How do I talk to my Parochial Vicar about my calling to the priesthood?

For months I have felt a calling to the priesthood. I get along moreso with my Parochial Vicar of my church rather than the Pastor, because the Pastor (not to sound mean) is rude to people. I’d rather not discuss issues with that right now, but, how can I approach my Parochial Vicar the next time I see him about the priesthood? He’s so awesome to talk to, and he’s so humble, wise, and intelligent - I’ve never thought this way of a priest before. How can I tell him he gives me a lot of inspiration? Sorry, I’m the shy type.

Thanks!

How about this approach?

Make an appointment with him, saying you’d like some information on vocations and you’d like to discuss it with him. When you go to see him, tell him how you feel, let him know his actions and demeanor give you much inspiration, and then ask him some questions. Maybe a good one to ask might be how are vocational candidates considered? What is the process, and who are the key players in the diocese that you’d need to meet and talk with about it? Just asking these questions conveys the idea you are interested, and if he’s the kind of priest you describe him as, he’ll know right where to take the conversation.

I agree make an appointment and just talk. I am the shy type as well and my pastor has been great, he has been helpful and givn me great advice. the important thing is just starting the conversation
