How do I tell a priest he is wrong?

Just a follow up to Blackhawk’s question here. One priest I’m thinking of tries to insist on the ten percent. As Michelle Arnold wrote that one should give to their means, could I ask you advise how I would gently explain it to this priest?

He is the one who has been through all the years of training, yet on this he’s plain wrong!
 
One method of demonstrating to someone that his assertion is incorrect is to politely insist that he provide substantiation for his assertion. In this case, show the priest this quote from the Catechism of the Catholic Church:
The fifth precept (“You shall help to provide for the needs of the Church”) means that the faithful are obliged to assist with the material needs of the Church, each according to his own ability CCC 2043].

… and then ask him to provide for you from Church documents substantiation for his assertion that the Church requires that Catholics give ten percent of their income.
