How would one thank the bishop for sending a fantastic priest to your parish? It seems that my bishop does not have an email address and all the snail mail addresses on the diocese web site are addressed to secretaries and others working for the diocese. Same goes for phone numbers…

I don’t want someone to receive a letter or phone call that will not convey our thanks to the bishop. I really want him to know that we appreciate our pastor very much even though there are some people in our parish that are trying to get him moved because they can’t accept his authority to hire/fire staff and did not like a recent decision he made, even though I doubt any of us knows the whole story.

Write to the bishop at the address for the diocese and send a carbon copy of the letter to your pastor at the parish office. Then if the need ever arises for the pastor to demonstrate to the bishop the support of the congregation, you will have given him the means to do so, whether or not the bishop saw the original letter. And, whether or not that need ever arises, I’m sure your pastor will appreciate knowing that you took the time to commend him to the bishop.
