I want to buy a gift for a couple who have been very supportive to my husband and I since he has been in formation for the diaconate. This couple has everything and I want to show my appreciation for their support for the past five years.

A couple who has “everything” may not need material goods, but I’m sure they would appreciate prayer. Why not take the money you were willing to spend on a gift and send it to a monastery with a request for Masses for the couple’s intentions? Or, alternatively, you could give it to your parish for Masses at the parish for the couple’s intentions. As a rule of thumb, the suggested Mass stipend is usually about $10 per Mass offered. So, for example, if you planned to spend $100 on a gift, you could ask for ten Masses for this couple. When you receive a Mass card for the promised Masses, you can send it to the couple with a letter expressing the gratitude you and your husband feel for the support they have offered over the years.
