How do I venerate a relic?

I am honored to have a first class relic of my patron saint, Bl. Fr. Seelos. I have had this relic for quite some time, but it has just sat on my “altar” that I erected in my room. The only other time I have ever venerated a relic was a few months ago when the relics of St. Mary Magdeline came to a parish near my church. We were rushed so fast past the relics because of the large amount of people there, I was not able to see people venerate the relic. I only had time to touch my Rosary to the Reliquary. Any help would be appriciated!

You can venerate a relic by touching it to your forehead, crossing yourself with it, and giving it a prominent place on your home altar; At my traditional parish before the evening Latin Mass the faithful have the opportunity to venerate a relic of a saint. This is done with the priest touching the relic on each person’s forehead. Ultimately the relics of the saints belong to the Church and if it needs to be deposited into an altar you’ll know. If cased, Bow, make the sign of the cross, kiss your fingers and touch them to the case.

You have a 3rd class relic SHF, still a great privilege to have it

I have several relics.Not being able to get reliquaries. I just put them in a shadow box and put them by my altar. I pray the rosary in front of them and kiss them sometimes. Keep care of that rosary since it’s a third class relic now!

You might also want to ask the Saint whose relic you possess to pray for you and bless you. For example, I was at a parish that had a relic (not sure what class) of St. Padre Pio’s in a glass case. I think I kissed my fingers and then touched it to the class closest to the relic and then asked St. Pio to pray for me.
