How do Jews view Jesus?

How do Jews view Jesus?
If they do not believe he is the Messiah, wouldn’t they view him as a total fraud because he proclaimed to be the One?
 
I once heard a rabbi say that the Jewish people believe Jesus was a “great prophet” but not the savior.
 
In college I had a rabbi as my prof for a Jewish Studies class. He explicitly said that Jews do not view Jesus as a prophet. He told us they believe he was a “good man” and nothing more. However, if I were Jewish, I would never call Jesus a good man. If he was not the messiah he was a very evil man who led God’s chosen people astray.
 
Jews do not believe Jesus was a great prophet. He has no real place in the Jewish belief system. To the extent they would discuss him at all, I suppose it would be as a failed or false messiah. And that is assuming you are talking to Jews who believe he even existed. For the purposes of this response, I am not including Messianic Jews/Jews for Jesus in this response.
 
Know that there is an essential Jewishness to be Catholic.We are Jews with a different idea of salvation.
 
I once heard a Jewish dude on TV say that Jews view Jesus as “a good Jewish kid who made it big in the religion biz”.

Hi.
They do not view them as practicing Judaism. From what I understand, a fair amount of Messianic Jews were either Jews who knew nothing about their own religion (such as many Russian immigrants who were not permitted to practice judaism) or were never jewish to begin with.

Obviously, messianic jews would disagree but even they would have to admit that they are not conisdered to be practicing judaism by the orthodox, conservative or reform jewish communities.

Jews for Jesus, for example is largely (if not wholly) funded by evangelicals and its purpose is to convert jews to christianity, not to practice judaism.

What is it with ‘Jews and Jesus’ at the moment, Christmas or something? We expect a reasonable flow of ‘Why don’t Jews believe in Jesus?’ questions but there’s been a flood recently.

Answer: not Messiah, not the fulfillment of any kind of prophesy whatsoever, not prophet, not God.

Come on Kaninchen not whatsoever of +300 Messianic Prophecies for Him !!! :rolleyes:

If that was the case then why YHWH abandoned His temple in Jerusalem since Jesus time…
 
In exactly the same way as a Jew or a Christian would view Gautama Siddhartha Buddha.

For the most part true.

I enjoy worshipping with Jewish congregations (usually Reform or Conservative though I have been to Chabad and Orthodox shuls as well). I have never wanted to worship with Messianic Jews…though one congregation I attended had an Chasidic guy who became a Christian…and joined what is apparently a Chasidic Christian shul…I met him at a military service. He was…interesting.
