How do non-denominational Christians pick a church?

Believe it or not, my Church isn’t a “denomination” either! Some things you might want to consider when making your decision:

1. Do you want to be in the Church that God founded upon the Apostles of Jesus Christ, with Peter as its head? (read Matt. 16:18)
2. Do you want a Church that thinks it’s perfectly okay to have many “denominations”, or do you want to be in a Church that recognizes Jesus’ prayer that we all be ONE in faith? (read John 17:11)
3. Do you want a Church that has continued to teach the same social morality for almost 2000 years, or one that changes its mind on key topics every few years? (read John 15:10)
4. Do you want a Church that recognizes the SAME Holy Scriptures that were in use when Jesus walked the earth? Or is it okay to use a Bible with some books missing (protestant)? Or perhaps with many books ADDED (Mormon)?
5. Do you want a Church that helps you change your life to conform to God’s model, or one that allows you to change your god to conform to your model?

Answer ALL these questions carefully and prayerfully, and I’m SURE you’ll find the Church you’re looking for VERY NEAR YOUR NEW HOME!

Now that you have, I’ll just add one more little bonus the OP will find. This is a completely novel concept to many protestants, so perhaps they haven’t considered this before. But if they join our little non-denominational bible church, they’ll never have to search for a new church again! Really! We’re all over the place, we all have the same doctrine, same theology, same teaching, same errr… service (we like to call it a mass).

Might feel a little different at first, but I’m sure you’ll truely feel at home in no time

Are you saying that you don’t go to church or are you saying the church is inside all of us?

i dont have a church that i attend as a practising member of that church.i occasionally attend different churches with friends and when i am able to i do attend a particular church but i dont hold to their individual practices.
i hold to the morals i have and i hold to my own principles in life and if i stick to my morals and my belief i am doing what i believe to be right.

You can’t get any more “bible church”, then my bible church. The first half of our “service”, or again we call it the Mass is based entirly around the bible. It’s called the Liturgy of the Word, it consists of:

Opening prayer,
Penatential rite,
Typically, OT reading (though on occation it might be something like Revelation),
Responsorial Psalm, of of the plasms in song format
Second reading, more often than not one of Pauls letters (or James, Peter, John)
Hallelujia,
Gosple reading (Matthew, Luke, Mark, John).

That’s the first half hour of our Mass, then comes the Homily or our Sermon. This, certainly in my experience, always ties the days bible readings to the modern world and our daily lives. So no Minister going on half cocked about politics, with no mention of the bible ever. It’s always present in our mass! In fact the Pastor even holds it up, for all to see just before the Gosple reading.

After the Homily the second half hour of our Mass starts. This is the Liturgy of the Eucharist, this quite literally is all about Jesus. It’s about Jesus’s gift of him self to us, his body and blood for us to eat and drink (no blood of Christ thanks to H1N1 at this time though ).

Think about it, if you’re really dedicated to Christ, if you are truely and completely devoted to Christ. If you want to be assured you’re going to hear the Bible at every single service, and if you want to know for a fact that those passages are properly and correctly interpeted, and you want your Sermons to always, always, always be bible based… Well where else can you go where you’re going to get those assurances?

Oh you might find some “non-denominational” some where (of course unless it’s my non-denom, then it’s not truely non-denom because there is only one church which is the true church created by Jesus Christ) that at the time you Join seems to have these things… But what happens when the current pastor gets a better job somewhere else? finds a higher paying parish? Dies? Or other wise just leaves? Aren’t you back in the same boat you’re in right now?

No baptist or any other congregation can offer you what my non-denominational bible church can offer you. We offer stability, the bible at every mass, the real presence of Jesus Christ at every mass, the stability of having the foundation Kepa, assurance that the Gates of Hell shall never prevail against it, and churches available to you all over the world that you’re totally free to show up at, fully participate in with out any worry of inconsitant theologoy, which is exaclty what you get from any protestant church.

Just food for thought here.

Now, I do appreciate your opinion about the Catholic Church, I can with all sincerity say, I have not considered attending a Catholic Church. I love that they are consistant. I love that they are compassionate. Unfortunately, we do not see eye to eye on a few key points. It is those points that have caused me to exclude the Catholic Church while searching for a new church home.

Just curious - what is your reason for moving outside of your original denomination?

In this neck of the woods, there are scattered churches which simply label themselves as a “Bible Church.” Historically I have known this to mean, “we are non-denomination” which strangely also means, “we are a protestant church.”

I wouldn’t worry over whether the OP is going to be banned, I have the highest degree of confidence that no one would be banned for simply answering questions which were directly asked. At least IMO, he hasn’t even toed near the “ban” line… I also don’t think anyone else has.

Again, you’re answering a question directly asked in a forum dedicated specifically for “Non-Catholic Religions”. Feel free to direct him to any church you wish to direct him to, I don’t think this is a ban worth offence. If it is, I would argue it my self.

Yeah…I know, but I dont think this is the intent of the rule. Suggesting that someone check out another denom because that person is searching is not a bad thing.

It all depends on what kind of church you’re looking for. What ever suits you and your family. What kind of message is the pastor preaching. Are they friendly people and the type that you want to be around. There are several things to look for but only you and your family can be the best judge of that.
Finding the right church to worship God is personal. We all can say this or that about what to look for but we don’t really know what you are looking for in a church. Finding the right church won’t happen in one setting it takes time to find what you’re looking for. All I can say is go to a church that you think will suit you and your family for several weeks. If its not what you’re looking for then go to another and another until you find what you want.
How did you find the church you used to go to and take it from there.
