Hello!
I was looking for (name removed by moderator)ut on how to cope on a day to day basis with remembering sins of your past for which absolution has been received? I know that it is good to remember these sins - to a point - so that they are not committed again. However, I find that certain ones come back to “haunt” me more than is necessary:( . Any coping strategies would be greatly appreciated, as this is interfering in my daily walk…
Thanks so much!

Annie

Hi Annie,

My favorite book is the Diary of Saint Faustina. Jesus appeared to her so many times and talked about His great mercy. I would recommend you to read this book. I pray every time I opened the book and Jesus’ messages help me so much in coping with my old time sins. faustina.org/pages/diary.htm

In a part of the diary, Jesus said to the saint:
*I am love and mercy itself. Let no soul fear to draw near to Me, even though its sins be as scarlet. My Mercy is greater than your sins and those of the entire world. I let My Sacred Heart be pierced with a lance, thus opening wide the source of Mercy for you. Come then with trust to draw graces from this fountain. I never reject a contrite heart. Sooner would heaven and earth turn into nothingness than would My Mercy not embrace a trusting soul. *

Another book is the “dialogue of Saint Catherine of Siena” (Her feast day was yesterday). Jesus said:

One who despairs despises My mercy, making his sin to be greater than mercy and goodness.

Another book is “Abandonment to Divine Providence” - compiled by nuns who received guidiance from a priest. This book helps with realizing God’s will at the present moment.

Also, relating to the book, the Divine Mercy chaplet is awesome too.

God bless.

Thank you so much, Water. I will see if I can get those books through the library:)

you’re welcome, Annie.

I edited my reply and thought you might not have read it.

Here is a great book too: “Abandonment to Divine Providence” - compiled by nuns who received guidiance, homilies, sermons, etc … from a priest, Fr. Jean-Pierre de Caussade. When he passed away, the nuns put all of his writings together as a book. This book helps with realizing God’s will at the present moment; it was printed out around the time of Saint Therese of the Child Jesus.

The diary is quiet thick; I am not sure if a library can lend you long enough to allow you time to read and reflect on. I’d prefer to have the book for myself so that I could highlight and bookmark whichever way I want. 🙂

I agree. I do not have too many options for books, at the moment. I much rather own books too; I just need to save some money (money is real tight right now…) I have access to a small library that can check with larger libraries. I live in a teeny weeny little bitty town in Alaska so I go with what I can:p

wow, Alaska - It is cold but the air must be nicer there.
There is an online version for you to read. I believe this online version does not contain everything the book does, but you can browse around by topic:

Wow, I promise I will never complain about. . . I mean, I promise I will try  not to complain about the cold, damp winters in Chicago.

God bless you in your journey!
