What is the urgency of your interest in transportation in the Vatican?

(And just as an FYI, busses are kisses. 🙂 – buses are transport vehicles)

It has to do with my research, I just need to know if horses and carriages are a primary means of transportation in the Vatican

No. The primary mode of transportation is what my grandmother called 'shank’s mare." In other words, walking.

I am. And also, this is really easily researched. I think perhaps it’s time for you to do your own homework.

I did do research I didn’t get the answers I was looking for

Did you read the link @Milt provided? That tells you what you’re asking.

Yes, I have been there. They have a few vehicles, but, it is only 110 acres.

I’ve never seen a horse or carriage anytime I’ve been there. I have seen bikes and Vespas and a few cars going in and out.

I have seen pictures of horse drawn carriages in Washington DC and in Paris. Times change, modes of transportation change.

Maybe you are confusing Vatican City with Mackinac Island?

If I was pope I’d travel on that chair that the tuxedoed guys carry around.

I haven’t seen many pics of priests with the Fr. Guido Sarduci hat. I think that would be classic for Rome.My relative bought me a zuchetto like the pope wears – E60 – no less. And, my head is too big, it doesn’t fit well.

What did the OP expect? chariots?

I think they walk a lot. Also, I think scooters are popular. You must be going to the Vatican. Maybe call a travel agent and ask.

Enlarge the third photo to see several cars in the car park on the left and a single car as visible in the photo from the dome (a challenging climb, but worth doing).
Otherwise, everyone within the Vatican walls was walking.

So you started out with a predetermined conclusion and are looking for facts that will back that up?

I’ve been there, too. I didn’t see a single horse. I did see cars going in and out—the people who work there commuting at the beginning and end of the day.
