Calling someone out in front of a congregation is just dead wrong. I would probably say a few unchristian things to a pastor if he did such to me. Im glad i dont attend that kind of church.šŸ˜›

I am arguing about Contraception with those Baptists at the forums you were kicked out of, Holden. My user name is: Ofthebody -if anybody wants to help me out.

I’m about to be kicked out myself even though I’ve defended Catholic doctrine by using only Scipture. We need people to join this site!

They are insane, I don’t think I can come back. Although they are entertaining.

That’s the funny thing about that site. They say KJV only, that’s all you use, and because you don’t agree with them they kick you off. They said something along the lines of that I’m going to Hell for not using the KJV

Im so going there, to the ladies forum first and act like im baptist but serously thinking about turning to catholic. This should be interesting!šŸ™‚

Annie wrote to you: Maximus, you do your cause no good when you simply parrot Scripture references that you have been taught to interpret a certain way, while refusing to interact about them. Do you personally study the Bible? If you do, then let’s talk! Do you just accept what you are have always been taught, zombie-like? Then there’s nothing to talk about. Communication with a brick wall is impossible. I know that I, for one, have tried asking you questions about the Scriptures you’ve brought up, but they have gone unanswered; you just repeat, like a robot, exactly what you said before. If this is Roman Catholicism, I pity you.

Isn’t it HILARIOUS how they think that we’re like brick walls? O, hypocrisy!

I was just banned. Sorry, you’re going to have to fend yourself on your own. They wrote me: Enough with the insults. Good bye.

How nice.

Yep they sure are nice people. I got banned for heresy. Ironic considering there the heretics.

I think the only reason why i have not been banned yet is because i told them i was Baptist, but am about to change to Catholic. They are trying to help me…

Yea, I’m about to be banned also. I guess solo scriptura is only sufficient for this group if you agree to be brainwashed by them first.

Hey Everybody,

I just read the most amazing book and it’s right on topic with this thread. It’s called Rome Sweet Home by Scott and Kimberly Hahn. Husband and wife team who were Presbyterians and he became a minister … he was staunch anti-Catholic and planned to spend his entire ministry saving us from ourselves … even though he knew nothing about the Church (except it was evil). Anyhow, while in seminary he was studying the bible and discovered that the scripture didn’t say what he’d always been taught and he came up with all these ā€œnewā€ ideas, which he preached to his flock …and then someone pointed out that his beliefs were EXACTLY in line with the Catholic Church.

He and his wife fought really hard not to join the Church and begged all their very learned Protestant friends to help them debate against what he had found … finally they gave up because they discovered that there just was no arguing with it.

Amazing book! I know far more about my faith now and how it differs from Protestants, as well as what their main complaints about the Church are.

And here on Amazon:

yes, he is amazing. you might want to visit his website. i believe is scotthahn.com

I just lurked on the baptist forum. All I can say is ā€œWOW,ā€ and not in a good way. 😦

One of the most corrupt, evil persons that I have ever known was a Southern Baptist minister. He was a liar, he used people shamelessly, and he was particularly vile towards women. My best friend’s brother is the pastor of his local Baptist church (not sure if it’s SB or some other kind) and he is one of the most worthless people I know. He’s always first in line to take whatever he can get and he never EVER has anything to offer up himself. He also molested my daughter a number of years ago. Great guy to be a Baptist pastor, huh?

A third Baptist minister (not sure what kind but NOT SB) who was once my brother’s best friend nearly destroyed my brother’s company until my brother had to completely cut him off. So I guess I don’t have a good ā€œtrack recordā€ with Baptists.

When Baptists, or anyone, tells me that Catholics aren’t Christian I just roll my eyes. Anyone who says that is so ignorant, not just of my religion but of their own, that it’s questionable if they are even worth talking to about religion ~ what’s the point of having a discussion with someone who doesn’t have a CLUE what they’re talking about?

My son is more succinct. He likes to ask such people what the status of their church was in the 1500’s. 😃 This usually causes a lot of confusion until they realize that THEIR church, along with all the others, was the Catholic Church back then because it was the ONLY one back then!

My favorite answer when people talk about how their Church is more centered on Christ comes from Mother Angelica. In one of her shows once she said that the other religions TALK about Jesus, but we actually COMMUNE with Him. šŸ™‚ Yeah we do, as often as possible. How about tomorrow? And the next day, and the next…

This Catholic-Protestant thing is mostly a US phenomenon, where the Christian population is split about 50/50. To the rest of the world, ā€œChristianā€ is generally synonymous with Catholic. That’s just a fact. So, in some sense, this anti-Catholic business is a sign of a narrow, provincial and often, sadly, very uneducated person.
