I would say with the Truth without fear. The Word of God is the ultimate weapon against evil. Keep the Traditional Mass alive.
Hi Glorious!
I second Wisdom’s sentiments here. The best way to combat an idea is often with another idea, as (I think!) Ben Hur said.
If you are a parent, discussing sexuality frankly with the children is best.
If you are a cleric, then preaching honestly is best.
For the rest of us, accurately discussing the issue when it comes up is best. As to individual homosexual acts, they are just sins like any other. Some people enjoy that sin, and so commit it with frequency, while others don’t. We need not fear people who commit these acts any more than we fear blasphemers (as an ex Navy man, that would be me, sadly), Protestants, Muslims, thieves, or someone who is too forward with his or her paramour. Even so called “gay spouses” need not arouse too much fear, if we recall that sexual conduct accounts for a small portion of any given day. After a certain number of years, sexuality within a relationship is chiefly theoretical, anyhow
The elevating of homosexuality to a zeitgeist, though, is every bit as ludicrous as overblown machismo, and this should be stated in response to any suggestion to the contrary. If sexuality were the great equalizer it is said to be, then one boggles how so many heterosexuals could possibly wage so many wars. Why didn’t Hitler just say to Stalin, “You like girls, I like Eva, why can’t we just get along?”
To reduce politics to sexuality is to degrade politics. With regards marriage, traditional Catholics should reject the secular state’s right to regulate it at all. The secular state respects marriage because it rules Christians, who practice the sacrament. I am rambling, but hopefully have at least sketched the outline of how I think the issue best responded to.
Cheers!
