Hello.

My wife and I have a question about contraception. We both know now that arificial contraception is not right and would no longer use it. Our question is this; my wife had her tubes tied when we had our youngest son. At the time we thought that this was just the normal thing to do if one didn’t want to have any more children. We of course regret this now because my wife and I would love to have more children but can’t. How do we deal with this, espeically since we are entering RCIA within the next couple of weeks?

Thanks,

Dan and Nora.

Hi Dan and Nora,

You didn’t know it was a sin at the time. So you are not guilty of this sin. You are not required to attempt corrective surgery in order to live as married Catholics. We are not competent here to comment on the medically appropriateness of such surgery. Welcome aboard. You are in our prayers.
