 If Father has all the angels there and plenty of entertainment, and they never defected,Why would he need us sinners who never seem to get things right:confused: Man has sinned since the beginning, help me to try to understand. Thank You and give me scripture:rolleyes: In his love Nancy:thumbsup:

For His pleasure. To be His servants, to love Him, worship Him, and serve Him. It doesn’t seem too deep, but He willed it because He wanted to, and here we are.

That being said, God isn’t some tyrant owner of us. He gives us the choice to follow, or not. We can sacrifice some of the worldly pleasures, follow His rules and we get to live happily with Him in eternity. Or we can live life how we want ignore Him and suffer for eternity. Our choice.

One way to look at it is God is the “company” that everyone should want to work for. You get paid very well, you have great benefits, and a great retirement plan. There are somethings about the job that are stressful and tough, but the benefits far outweigh everything. If we make too many mistakes though, we might be fired. Or we can quit and try to find another job, but they are all dead ends. Some people quit and come back.

He doesn’t “need” us, He wasn’t bored, He wasnly lonely, He wasn’t dissatisfied with His own eternal existance. He just willed it and it happend. He wanted to create a soulful being in His own image in likeness. “Workers for the company”.

So I noticed above I didn’t summarize my answer to your title question. That is we don’t really benefit God, He benefits us.

Also, I just saw that you were wanting Bible verses. I’m looking for something the specifally says that, but I just don’t think that it’s spelled out in the Bible. Here is what the CCC says about this in the prologue:

"Three Truths (1-25)
Scripture gives three clear truths:
  1. Eternal life is to know God and Jesus whom he sent (Jn 17:3)
  2. God wills all to be saved and to know the truth (1 Tim 2:3-4)
  3. All are saved only in the name of Jesus (Acts 4:12)
God Comes Close to Man in Jesus (1-3)
God created man to share in his blessings. God always comes close to man and calls man to seek him. To gather men (scattered by sin) God sent Jesus, his only Son. In Jesus he invites men to become his adopted children and heirs of eternal life."

Ready for something deep to think about:

In order for Jesus to be born, humans, mankind had to exist so that Jesus would have a form to take. Yet…Jesus wouldn’t have been necessary if God didn’t create man that needed saving. Think about it…

Why do we have children?

They are a lot of work, they lie, they are stressful, they are smelly, they are selfish, they are hurtful…, THEY ARE BEAUTIFUL, THEY ARE PRECIOUS, THEY MAKE ALL OF OUR OTHER ACCOMPLISHMENTS SEEM INSIGNIFICANT!

I can see that you ARE a very thoughtful person. You aren’t just accepting everything at face value. This can be a very good quality. It will lead you to a deeper faith, but (here’s the clinker) you’ll never get as deep as you desire until you meet up with God face to face and He, Himself, reveals all the answers to all of your questions. Hey, look at the Pope! He even doesn’t know everything yet and he’s worked his whole life at learning about God. He’s STILL learning! He’s STILL being revealed to by God.

The big word here on earth is MYSTERY. No one person, no group of people, nothing except God himself, can fully comprehend all that there is to understand. I forget where I read this, but it is like an art gallery. A viewer walks along studying all these wonderful painting, but never gets to the end of the art show. That’s what mystery is.

Yes, some people believe in reincarnation. Energy can never be created nor destroyed, it just changes form. Unfortunately, this doesn’t fly because there is The Creator. God has the sole domain over all life. We, the created, aren’t supposed to tinker with His domain. Period.

I don’t think there will be any Scripture passages saying why God needs us. I think Scripture is almost entirely about why we need God.

But still, your question has been the grist for many. Ultimately, I believe God’s love was superabundant and so wished to share his infinite goodness, love and joy with creation. I would lump mankind in with the angels though. Even though we are fallen, and have the hope of Salvation, a portion of the angels fell likewise. But due to their difference in being, was permanent and final.

Further, the Son of God is the King of all Creation, including the Angels. The Incarnation was an infinite mystery on our behalf, of course, but it also involves the angels, as Jesus, the Son of God, and perfect Man, is also the King of the Angels too.

But ultimately, God’s infinite love and joy was always shared within the mystery of the Trinity, and therefore never required any creation.

It is why we will need all of eternity to thank Him and praise Him! 🙂

Dear Ambrose SJ, Thank You, for the information. I need to ask you of the angels. When they fell did they have a choice to come to earth through the flesh, and did they refuse to,so that makes it impossible for them to be redeemed? Also did we live with God and did we fall with them and then except to come to earth in the flesh so we could be redeemed and brought back to God,through Christ? I found REV 4:11 Do you know where I can get the Lords Prayer in Latin? And Old Catholic songs? Regina Chalie? I proberly spelt that wrong but do you know what I mean?:harp: I usto have one:)
Love of Christ Nancy.,🙂

Daniel is apocalyptic(kind of prophetic) book. One of my favorite prayers is in Daniel 3. “Lord, you have just cause to judge me because I have sinned against you and disobeyed your will. Please show me now your greatness of heart and treat me with your unbounded kindness.”

How many chapters does your bible have for Daniel?

Yes, Daniel had the charism of interpretation. Hey, a servant can have tongues, but to understand the tongues is golden. Daniel was specially graced by God. Lucky Him (sometimes not)

Now THERE is another word for the day GRACE. How many kinds/definitions are there? I just know the word GRACE. And for my simple mind, I just say, “Grace is given!” and let it be at that. Someday I’ll understand better…hopefully.

Yes, the world has worried about the Israelites for HOW LONG? Why, oh why, are these such stiff-necked people? (Hey, those aren’t my words. God said that. )
Prayer is always needed for them especially now. I’m waiting for the West Bank involvement yet.
Don’t forget Jeremiah 31:33 Right before the “Certainty of God’s Promise.”

As for poetry, why don’t you just click on that box “start a thread” and just throw a question out there “Where would I put a piece of self- composed poetry?” The monitors will respond and tell you. Really, though, you shouldn’t just post willy-nilly all your blood and sweat and tears. This is an intellectual property. If it is totally decent stuff, you’d probably lose it.

Lord’s Prayer in Latin

PATER noster, qui es in caelis, sanctificetur nomen tuum. Adveniat regnum tuum. Fiat voluntas tua, sicut in caelo et in terra. Panem nostrum quotidianum da nobis hodie, et dimitte nobis debita nostra sicut et nos dimittimus debitoribus nostris. Et ne nos inducas in tentationem, sed libera nos a malo. Amen.

The Pope just SANG this song on January 1st Mary’s feast-day.
I’m pretty sure, though, he sang it in Latin. What tune is a guess. There are so many musical arrangements of this.

Te Deum

We praise thee, O God
: we acknowledge thee to be the Lord.
All the earth doth worship thee
: the Father everlasting.
To thee all Angels cry aloud
: the Heavens, and all the Powers therein.
To thee Cherubim and Seraphim
: continually do cry,
Holy, Holy, Holy
: Lord God of Sabaoth;
Heaven and earth are full of the Majesty
: of thy glory.
The glorious company of the Apostles : praise thee.
The goodly fellowship of the Prophets : praise thee.
The noble army of Martyrs : praise thee.
The holy Church throughout all the world
: doth acknowledge thee;
The Father : of an infinite Majesty;
Thine honourable, true : and only Son;
Also the Holy Ghost : the Comforter.
Thou art the King of Glory : O Christ.
Thou art the everlasting Son : of the Father.
When thou tookest upon thee to deliver man
: thou didst not abhor the Virgin’s womb.
When thou hadst overcome the sharpness of death
: thou didst open the Kingdom of Heaven to all believers.
Thou sittest at the right hand of God : in the glory of the Father.
We believe that thou shalt come : to be our Judge.
We therefore pray thee, help thy servants
: whom thou hast redeemed with thy precious blood.
Make them to be numbered with thy Saints : in glory everlasting.
O Lord, save thy people
: and bless thine heritage.
Govern them : and lift them up for ever.
Day by day : we magnify thee;
And we worship thy Name : ever world without end.
Vouchsafe, O Lord : to keep us this day without sin.
O Lord, have mercy upon us : have mercy upon us.
O Lord, let thy mercy lighten upon us
: as our trust is in thee.
O Lord, in thee have I trusted
: let me never be confounded.

I’ll probably get totally ripped for copy/pasting without link
but If you put in the title in the google search you’ll come up with
a host of sites. I imagine that the copyright is in the public domain by now if it ever had one.

Salve Regina coelitum, O Maria!
Sors unica terrigenum, O Maria!
Jubilate, Cherubim,
Exsultate, Seraphim!
Consonante perpetim:
Salve, Salve, Salve Regina.

Mater misericordiae, O Maria!
Dulcis parens clementiae, O Maria!

Hail, Holy Queen enthroned above, O Maria!
Hail, Mother of mercy and of love, O Maria!
Triumph all ye cherubim!
Sing with us ye seraphim!
Heaven and earth resound the hymn!

Our life, our sweetness here below, O Maria!
Our hope in sorrow and in woe, O Maria!

I’m going to say what I think about this angel thing.

You have a very thoughtful thinking on how things all work. I never ever heard this kind of theory before. It causes me to pause and question myself how things work.

Believe this, there are Bible books out there that are not canonized. That means that they are not included with the pre-bound text that we all call the Bible (really the Bible is a library of many books all under one cover). These books were found as ancient manuscripts just like Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John were.
In some of these, there is plenty of talk about angels.

So, as to the church “official” teaching about angels, a person has to look at what is in the actual canonized Bible. Catholics, of course, use an expanded version of the Bible (library). They have more and some different books canonized than, say, a Lutheran Bible. The biggy book for Angels is Ezra. Some of it is canonized by the Catholic faith and some of it isn’t. In other churches, they’ve canonized more of Ezra. In this book, we hear another angel’s name, Uriel. The Catholics only recognize three by name: Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael.

If you’d like to dig into Catholic “official” teaching of angels
go to
newadvent.org/cathen/01476d.htm.

We are told in the Bible that

God created everything for us, and us for Himself. Such is the work of Love and Mercy.
You are unbelievable I cant express how different I feel now. I remembered when I was a child and how much I feared and referenced God ,and all the prayers I have almost forgotten. Nick, I said them all as you wrote them. Tomorrow I will go back to your information and copy all I can. When I went to the Baptist religion I was told not to pray to anyone but Jesus, that praying to Saints was a sin against God. Ive had such a time trying to get my faith back. Please stay in tutch with me I feel the conformation of the Holy Spirit and the tears are flowing.I miss the church, and the best years of my life were back then, back when church was sacred, holy, and the smell of incense, the royal feeling that it was the only church on earth that truly belonged to God. I was going to become a Nun,and my sister,a missionary Nun.We were inrolled to go to Sacred Hearts Academy,But she was killed in an auto accident and I couldnt believe it and was mad at God and thought he was mean to take her away (my best friend).I too heard the heavens open up and singing beyond discription,I also have met someone who disapered after he told me who I was and about Christ, and the narrow gate and how I would see the bright light at the end,and be with Jesus.I can’t thank you enough. You have been my:angel dont get upset with that because I know all the praise, honor, and glory goes to God:rolleyes: But it took you for me to feel that feeling of :heaven: again I should write a storey like you did a profile?but I dont know that much about computers. For you Nick Psalms:34 Love you Nancy. God Bless you and all at this forum.👍

I don’t know the reasons for God creating us and loving us but here is my take on it:
To put this into very simple terms. God loves us but that love would be somewhat in vain if we didn’t love him back. Have you ever loved someone that didn’t love you back? It is an awful feeling. We can’t force someone to love us back; it has to come from within ones heart, freely and willfully to make that love worthwhile. So the way I see it, God just wants to be loved in return for His incredible love.

But we are sinners? Would the love of a sinner who repents be so much more valuable to God than the love of righteous non sinning people? The Angels in heaven love God but they have from the beginning; they do not struggle against the sins of the world. The Angels are with God, they can “feel” His power and intense love, they don’t go on faith but rather they know God. The Angels know that God IS love.

Some scripture to support my theory.

Proverbs 8:18 I love those who love me; And those who diligently seek me will find me.

Luke 15:1-6(Jesus speaks about the parable of the one lost sheep)

Luke 15:7
“I tell you that in the same way, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents, than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance”.

Now think of a sinner, set in their ways and stubborn in their desires. When they relinquish those desires in order to seek God and love God they give Glory to God because they revere Him and Love Him. A sinner changes their sinful ways giving up fleshy desires, repenting for past sins, in order to find and Love God, this gives God Joy. A true free willed love after struggle with sin is pleasing to God.

Glory be to God. Happy New year my friend, I hope this helps. 😉

Eucharisted, you are a very special person. It took me a half page to write what you said in one sentence. I just wanted you to know I always find insight in your post.

And you Nancy, you have me feeling so glad you have found your faith again. I am inspired to pray.

God Bless you both. :signofcross:
