How do we benefit God? (not how can we)

**God is Love, & it is the nature of love that it spreads itself around - like fire, that grows ever more hungry the better it is fed. We know this about God, from looking at what created love is like. This is why love is active - or is non-existent. To do good is not so much a duty, as something without which we ought to be unable to live; it ought to be an obsession, a necessity, a hunger that nothing can satisfy. Jesus did good in this way - He hungered and thirsted to do His Father’s Will. **​

**There is no universe at all, if God does not create it. Things exist because they are first loved by God. then they are created, which is what is needed for them to admit their nothingness before Him from Whom Alone they gain all good in them. **
**It is God Alone Who benefits us - it is impossible for God to be indebted to any creature, unless He puts himself in a position that allows this: He must do it, & He has (Matt. 25.31-46). So, as always, we are wholly indebted to Him for having put us in a position in which it is possible for us to do Him good. To be created, is to be indebted to God. **

To put this into very simple terms. God loves us but that love would be somewhat in vain if we didn’t love him back. Have you ever loved someone that didn’t love you back? It is an awful feeling. We can’t force someone to love us back; it has to come from within ones heart, freely and willfully to make that love worthwhile. So the way I see it, God just wants to be loved in return for His incredible love.

But we are sinners? Would the love of a sinner who repents be so much more valuable to God than the love of righteous non sinning people? The Angels in heaven love God but they have from the beginning; they do not struggle against the sins of the world. The Angels are with God, they can “feel” His power and intense love, they don’t go on faith but rather they know God. The Angels know that God IS love.

Some scripture to support my theory.

Proverbs 8:18 I love those who love me; And those who diligently seek me will find me.

Luke 15:1-6(Jesus speaks about the parable of the one lost sheep)

Luke 15:7
“I tell you that in the same way, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents, than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance”.

Now think of a sinner, set in their ways and stubborn in their desires. When they relinquish those desires in order to seek God and love God they give Glory to God because they revere Him and Love Him. A sinner changes their sinful ways giving up fleshy desires, repenting for past sins, in order to find and Love God, this gives God Joy. A true free willed love after struggle with sin is pleasing to God.

Thank You for your answer.You all have such wonderful knowledge of the Lord God,and use such simplesity in explaining how you think and then back it up with scripture,that way we can (edify)like we are told to do.I ,and others are more apt to listen if you give them the answers by the word of God:amen: Love of Christ Nancy Happy New Year to you also.

To do good is a privalege,to me,some have the power and do nothing,for which they will answer to God.Blessed are those who do hunger and thirst after rightousness:for they will be filled.The greatest gift God gave us besides Christ and eternal life is Love 1Cor:13 There are three things that will endure -faith,hope and love-and the greatest of these is love. I was Christian all my life but never really really believed until I bumped into a book that none of the bibles included as official. That was the Gospel of Peter. It opened my eyes that there is so much stuff out there…not just the Bible…that wouldn’t have been there if not for the fact that Jesus actually did walk on
this earth. If it were not a fact, then all of this wouldn’t be
around…and still around even 2,000 years later.

I read the Gospel of Peter as an excerpt in the back of a book. Now I see it is online at newadvent.org/fathers/1001.htm

It is a little different online, because when I first read it, Peter used the word angels in it. Here it says two men (vs.9).

No, you misunderstood. I wasn’t talking about 1 Peter and 2nd Peter in the Bible. I was talking about a manuscript that isn’t included in any Bible. I don’t know why. Maybe they didn’t think that Peter really wrote it. Well, I do think he really wrote it and it struck me profoundly.

They (the Catholics anyway) include it with the ancient writings of the fathers, though. They recognize the Gospel of Peter, but they didn’t canonize it and make it official.

(Hey, they had to hold the line, otherwise our Bibles would be
too heavy to lift!😃 )

Is it in the King verson coppied from 1611? aI do have one like that but the pages are all soft paper that breaks easy.I will look diligently and I will find it and get back to you I also know an old man who ownes all kinds of books old ones I will go there soon.Love of Jesus Nancy:rolleyes:
