How do we deal with a transgender person?

Hello,
My neighbor’s daughter (whom I have known since she was a baby) has recently decided that she is a transgender. Needless to say we’re all having some difficulty in adjusting to this new person and need some guidance from the church on how to handle this. Should we just go along with her, or kindly and lovingly let her know that we can’t be a party to the deception?
