From modern day cult leaders like David Koresh and Heaven’s Gate?

I am attempting to demonstrate that the sacrifice of early Christians (like Peter) illustrates their commitment to Jesus, but I am being told that sort of thing happens all the time!

First thing that comes to mind is that Peter and Paul escaped when possible, either by themselves (like when Paul appeals to Rome) or with aid from God (like when Peter is released from jail by an angel.)

People like David Koresh seem to **want **to die, rather than being **willing **to give their lives in God’s service.

I one way whoever you are speaking with is right, this sort of thing does happen all the time. We see it when Catholic missionaries work in Thrid world and Arab countries tending to the spiritual and physical needs of those oppressed there.
