How do we explain "Call no earthly man father"?

I have been studying answers to the objection Protestants have to the above quote from Jesus, “Call no earthly man father”…I still do not feel satisfied with what I have found. As a former Protestant, I would like to have a better explanation than I have been able to find. I have no problem calling priests “Father” however, the question bothers me. Can you help?
