We can’t use religious reasons considering America is a nation where Church and State are separated. The only reasons I can think of is the fact that pornographic addictions can ruin people and their families. There is also the fact that it encourages men to view women as sexual objects rather than human beings.

The problem however is that I don’t see how we can possibly justify banning pornography according to the Constitution. As Americans, we must respect this document so what can we do?

Pornography is too much of a business now to have it ever be banned. It’d be like trying to ban cigarettes, or alcohol, or something else equally as addictive.

Not to mention the internet itself, which is a MAJOR hub for pornography, and it’s a shame how kids are getting exposed to it younger and younger. People don’t realize it’s a terrible, terrible addiction.

The most we can do is educate our children to not look at such filth.

While we cannot ban it, we can make it increasingly difficult to obtain. The internet in particular needs to be regulated (by setting up .xxx locations, etc.). Also piracy of copyrighted material is rampant on the internet making porn less and less expensive every day.

Support internet regulation. Support punishment for copywright infringement.

Strangely, professional pornographers want the same things. It’s a supply and demand thing. They want to make money, but with such easy access, it’s difficult to make profit.

I don’t support copyright infringement but I’ve read that it’s actually hurting the porn industry a lot which would in turn be supporting our cause. Then again, we need to be against stealing actively as well.😊

it’s only hurting them temporarily. meanwhile they’re actively trying to find new and inventive ways to reinvent their product. it just encourages them to be inventive.

Why not ban it? What’s the problem? Piracy is less expensive? It’s free.

I haven’t read through all of the replies as of yet, so perhaps this has been mentioned, but I think perhaps one way to fight pornography is to acknowledge openly how much of it there is.

We’re now so used to it, that there’s a lot of it, or stuff approaching it, that we don’t blink an eye at. The Sports Illustrated Swimsuit edition is a species of pornography. A lot of tv advertising darn near is. The covers of woman’s magazines seem to be bordering on it.

Noting that this stuff is pornography or darned near pornography would be a step to getting pornography back behind the counters at the stores. That isn’t wiping it out, but it at least puts the shame back in it.

Put the shame back in pornography and focus on how harmful it is.

Societal disapproval can go a long way to stopping harmful behavior, as can be seen with cigarettes. It used to be that doctors would recommend cigarettes and you were seen as cool for using them. Now we know about the health risks and lighting up is seen as a vice. Oh sure, we tolerate in people too weak to stop but we sure don’t encourage it.

Too many people in secular society believe that the freedom to produce porn means freedom from regulation and judgment. We don’t accept that with any other product or entertainment and we shouldn’t do so with pornography

The most effective way to fight it is for Catholics to take state power and then just crush this stuff. It is easy to find out where the book stores and clubs are located. Just send in the troops, and a bulldozer.

As far as actually changing people’s minds about it… they’re probably mostly too far gone for that. Fellow Catholics you can reach, probably other Christians too, and our Jewish brothers. But the pagans and atheists? You’re better off putting your efforts into absolute political victory, and then just smashing the stuff after you win.

There are two things that make me rage so deeply regarding how mainstream pornography has become.

1.) It’s everywhere! On the store counters! On the newest popular movies! Everywhere! Nowadays I get so nervous when I’m watching a new movie with family members because I am afraid that some pointless sex scene will be shown that really is not necessary for the film to be good.

2.) Those disgusting sleazebags living over in Porn Valley try to take advantage of very young women who are in financial pressures. A lot of these girls that go into porn aren’t really passionate about it but they don’t have much of a choice because it’s an easy way for them to keep a roof over their heads.

with mary our mother

its the only way, people will always find ways around the blocks and things

and there is no way you make laws that would stop it the porn industry has to much money to let that happen

First. Don’t buy it.

Second. Don’t watch it.

Third. Use the interwebs and help stop it.

If we declare defeat before trying - trying - to do anything then we are defeated already. Please stop that.

I used to think that if I couldn’t make a big, big difference then what’s the point? Helping even one person is helping.

God bless,
Ed

I think the best way to fight it is not to support it; don’t buy it, don’t patronize stores that sell that type of material and don’t view it on the internet. That would put them all out of business in no time.

again as i said pray to mary its amazing what she can do.

stop it with prayer and one on one help

don’t try and stop it through the government its to difficult and people will find a way around it.

we must make our families more pure

then our friends

then our neighborhoods

then our communities

then our cities

then our states

then our country

then the world

start at home with the family and build it up from there

Unfortunately, the only resposible way to get rid of pornography is to teach and touch the hearts of every man, woman and child so they understand the demeaning nature of pornography. Children need to be taught that pornography is wrong; this needs to be reinforced at church and in the schools (just like we educate our children about the harmful effects of smoking, alcohol, and drugs)(and it should be done especially in school since alot of kids don’t go to church). It will be a long process just as the prolife movement has been a long process in changing the hearts and minds of people. We need to change hearts and that takes time. Of course a couple of good laws could help to hopefully speed things up. If you can associate human slave trafficking and sex slaves to pornography, I think the public will start to see the harm in indulging themselves in what they think is harmless pornography. Also, materialism needs to be confronted so young adults are not lured into making grave mistakes when it comes to their choice of clothing and certain loose lifestyles.

i hate to be beating people on the head with this but it starts in the family

there is one easy way to change the world

get married have a lot of kids and bring them up as good catholics or christians and teach them how to be pure, pray as a family have ONE family computer that the parents see at all times and only the parents can log on to them.

if you teach them how to be pure at a young age they will be pure at an old age more then likely
