If you go back to before religions, before Sumarians. Ppl were trying to explain the power behind the elements. Sumerians organized names, Greeks, Romans, Scandinavians, etc. Now, until recently, I felt they were human creations and stories were made to give them a function. I.e. Diana, the Huntress, etc. The aboringes believed in the Sun. Lived good kind lives. Romans 2 states that if lives are lived as Christ lived, their behavior would bring them to heaven. It is as the Holy Spirit spoke to their soul and they listened…,Why is everyone looking for a God. So, Science is up and running. Some want to see and touch to believe like Doubting Thomas. Jesus says, BLESSED ARE THOSE WHO BELIEVE AND HAVE NOT SEEN.
Adam and Eve is an allogory story. It took many years for the church to stop trying to make Eve the only woman on earth w 3 guys. Our creation story tells of a Creator who wants a relationship w us…
Darwin comes out w his science. Then, the BIG BANG was postulated. Now, intelligent design. The genome is opening up more ideas. There is a component not shared on animal and human genomes. This postulates Darwin was OK but Intelligent design might be it. This is all in flux.
I forgot India w the many gods and its Mahaboratah. This is cool but they may be extraterrestrials and/or fallen angels. Robert Oppenheimer got his math to invent the atomic bomb from the Mahaboratah. After the Inquisition, Gabriel spoke to Mohammed=Islam.
A lot of weird Islamic stuff is tribal practices which aren’t in Koran. The Buddha and Confusious are peaceful living, wisdom texts.
There is a lot of religions. But they all culminate in Christianity and Jesus. Jews are first monotheistic religion. Than, Christianity w Jesus. Than Islam. 3 ppl worship same God. We are ppl of the Book. Half zbrothers and step brothers.
One might feel Jesus is best as all 3 religions mention Him.
I better send this

Phew!
To continue. There is a lot of stuff out there. You’re being pulled, in not a good way. You are not strong in your faith to take this other stuff in.,
Please, bring your parents on this journey w you. A mother does not her son to go to hell. Jesus says,” IF YOU DENY ME, I WILL DENY YOU!!”
Slow down. Get a Book on Religion from the Library. Trust your parents for your well being. Satan will confuse you and you can lose your soul…

God bless you, Kevin K. Sweet Child, you are attacking this w a vengeance, not needed. Someone must have implied that your listening to fools ( your parents and church). There was a time in your “LIKE WHAT!”
The forces of evil in the world and Quora, do not have your best interest in heart. You are not making it clear to your parents, how deep you are into this.

Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him we humbly pray; and do Thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the Power of God, cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits, who prowl through the world seeking the ruin of souls.

Pray this often during hour search, pls.
Go w God. Jesus be w him. Holy Spirit screamed the truth into his soul. In Zjesus Name.

The Josephus reference pretty much debunked by scholars. The non-Biblical are very generic references about the “existence” of Jesus and little else. I believe; I am just stating there is little non-Biblical attestation.

Except there are at least two references to Jesus in Josephus. And the other is not so much as even disputed, let alone debunked, by any serious scholar.
Festus was now dead, and Albinus was but upon the road; so (the High Priest) assembled the Sanhedrin of judges, and brought before them the brother of Jesus, who was called Messiah, whose name was James, and some others; and when he had formed an accusation against them as breakers of the law, he delivered them to be stoned.
Besides that, the main reference is only disputed in some of its parts. An Islamic translation has been recently discovered which retains references to Jesus and most of the parts that were supposedly added by Christians.

For a reasonable, impartial assessment of the whole mythical Jesus thesis, you may want to read this:

It was written by a modern atheist historian who treats the topic impartially. He also deals at length with the Josephus references.

His reasoning on the quoted reference to Jesus, above, is rock solid.
This is because the passage is discussed no less than three times in mid-Third Century works by the Christian apologist Origen and he directly quotes the relevant section with the words “Jesus who was called the Messiah” all three times: in Contra Celsum I.4, in Contra Celsum II:13 and in Commentarium in evangelium Matthaei X.17. Each time he uses precisely the phrase we find in Josephus: αδελφος Ιησου του λεγομενου Χριστου (“the brother of that Jesus who was called Messiah”). This is significant because Origen was writing a whole generation before Christianity was in any kind of position to be tampering with texts of Josephus. If this phrase was in the passage in Origen’s time, then it was clearly original to Josephus.

That is a great question! One we should think about often.

It is the realization of God’s will in our lives and yet so much more. That is only the surface of the mystery. So much of it is yet to be unfolded, revealed. And the heart of it is love, the love of Christ we are to share.

Wars were experienced by many more than the death and resurrection of a single man…
Again, faith requires no further proof.

Actually that is so generic as to be largely meaningless.

Jesus’ references to the “kingdom” were from the Book of Daniel, who spoke of the fifth kingdom, the one established by God destroying the preceding kingdom, the Roman Empire. So Daniel’s prophecy meant God’s kingdom would manifest on earth. Jesus also said, “…the kingdom is upon you.,” and his listeners understood it as meaning the prophecy from Daniel was being fulfilled. Daniel was definitely speaking of the kingdom as an historical reality not merely a spiritual or esoteric one.

Jesus wouldn’t have been crucified merely for preaching “God’s love in our lives.”

Thats what Jesus, being a material reality Himself, and undeniably thr Rock, wanted to be established and continue as a material reality in His ‘bodily’ absence. They can’t be established on themselves and be considered Rock. The OT symbol of God as Rock of salvation is fulfilled in the Incarnation and as an eternal reality is established in another body or person. That other person Jesus establishes as the rock is Peter the material continuation of His Body and through Peter’s seat of authority those who sit in it until Christ returns. Rock is a symbol of material, more precisely, flesh. The Body of Christ.

Actually, the reference to Jesus in Tacitus is far from “very generic.” It is quite specific and no reputable historian so much as questions its authenticity.
Consequently, to get rid of the report, Nero fastened the guilt and inflicted the most exquisite tortures on a class hated for their abominations, called Christians by the populace. Christus, from whom the name had its origin, suffered the extreme penalty during the reign of Tiberius at the hands of one of our procurators, Pontius Pilatus, and a most mischievous superstition, thus checked for the moment, again broke out not only in Judæa, the first source of the evil, but even in Rome, where all things hideous and shameful from every part of the world find their centre and become popular.
(Tacitus, Annals, XV.44)

And you see this Kingdom as the Catholic Church?
Absolutely!

That conclusion can be drawn from Daniel’s prophecy and the teachings of Jesus taken together. The conclusion is made almost inevitable when you understand why the chief priests were so anxious to have Jesus dispensed with. They understood their demise was embedded in the “fine print” of Daniel’s prophecy and in the implicit message within the kernel of Jesus’ teaching. They weren’t fools, at least not when it came to human, self-preserving, reason.
