How do we know Jesus was really resurrected?

The evidence is in the Sign of Jonah,

Matthew 12:40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale’s belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

2 Peter 3:8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

John 2:19-21 Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up…But he spake of the temple of his body.

3 days also equals 3000 years. The Temple which is the body of the Lamb is completed.

Revelation 21:22 And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it.

Subtract 1000 years. This is when Jesus returns, 2000 years later.

Revelation 20:5 But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.

Which is after 2 days, we are revived with resurrection.

Hosea 6:2 After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight.

And then again after 3 days/3000 years we live in God’s sight.

Revelation 21:3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.

So this shows it biblically, what about historically. Before the 2000 years is out and before Jesus returns, Jerusalem as the withered fig tree in 70 AD is restored and putting out leaves again, this happened in the 20th century. This also happens:

Matthew 24:24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

A secular Israel without Jesus was raised which is a miracle of the False Messiah and many Christians are deceived by it, since only Messiah is supposed to raise Israel devoted to God.

Isaiah 49:6 And he said, It is a light thing that thou shouldest be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved of Israel: I will also give thee for a light to the Gentiles, that thou mayest be my salvation unto the end of the earth.

And then a person will see all these things happen in a lifetime before the 2000 years is out:

Matthew 24:34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.

So just think, if Israel was created in the 19th century or in the 22 century then the prophecy would be blown but it’s right on target.

Aside from personal revelation, that’s all decent evidence that Jesus was telling the truth.

The year your counting to is 2150…It is important that you look at astrology because if you learn how the stars and universe move…You will understand the coming and goings of time,

Throughout history every culture with inteligent thought has used the sky to map out events as they come and go,

Weather it was for good or bad isnt the issue.

Just because Pagans worshiped the sun gods it doesnt mean that we should all rule out that the stars have been a big influance on christian movements…

We all take the bible at face value and we all know that there is so many hiden messages,

The Christian church asked for Constantine’s help when there were problems. He called a meeting of Christian bishops at Nicaea in 325 that decided what a Christian was, and what Christians should believe.

Im not even sure if the old testament hasnt been doctored too…

“And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth”

He never asked anyone to sacrifice anything but cain and abel took it upon themselves to offer there trade…

Personaly i think we are here to tend to the earth he made and by telling people they must worship God is no diferance to pagens worshiping there Gods weather they be false or not…
To pray to God in our own minds is all he expects of us and thats all…To visit churches and organised religous turnovers is no differance to pagan stuff.

All christians believe in the same God, There is no mistake BUT why do you all fight and argue over who believes the No1 story??

All the argueing over whose bible was interpreted the right or wrong way has never seemed very christian of anyone at all…

We was put here as keepers of his earth until God has use of it for other things and thats all But we have not done a very good job of that have we??

We are more like a form of cancer to this earth…🤷

No daubt someone will tell me how wrong i am but i suppose its ok aslong as you can do that fighting thing 👍

I appreciate your gentleness. However, you don’t seem to grasp the most basic elements of Christian belief. Christ crucified, dead, and buried.
Hi

I as an Ahmadi peaceful Muslim don’t see Christ as crucified, dead, and buried in a grave for three days only. We see him put on Cross, he was only near-dead not dead, he was not buried in a grave but was laid in a spacious roomlike airy tomb, when his wounds got healed enogh to walk, he just walked away leaving the the tomb empty.

Thanks

The words I used are right from C. S. Lewis.
Hi

I think that it was not appropriate for C. S. Lewis also to use such strong words. Strong words don’t necessarily indicate a strong faith or a strong arguments.

Thanks

With respect, I think you underestimate the cruelty and the intensity of Jesus’s crucifixion. Yes, it is, in theory possible that he could have survived 3 hours on the cross, even after the mistreatment he received prior to the being crucified. However, we only know that it was claimed he died after 3 hours; it does not say he was only on the cross for 3 hours. He might have been on for 5 or 6 hours (after all, after his death, they would have had to go to Pilate, gain access to him, get his permission, return to calvery, convince the guards that they had permission, etc.). But even if we suppose he survived all of that, plus having his side speared to test whether he was alive or dead, we know he had suffered grave wounds. Certainly he had lost massive amounts of blood; had sustained wounds in his hands, feet and sides that would have been comparable to gunshot wounds, was certainly in shock, likely in a coma. If we took him to a 21st century ER, we could probably save him, but there is no way that he would be able to get up on his own and walk again within 3 days. In the 1st century, if he managed to survive the blood loss and shock, his wounds would likely have become infected and that would have killed him.

No offense, but it seems to me that the Islamic interpretation you present is just as incredible as the Christian interpretation.

When did Mary Magdelene first meet the resurrected Jesus? And how did she react?
(a) Mary and the other women met Jesus on their way back from their first and only visit to the tomb.
They took hold of his feet and worshipped him (Matthew 28:9)
(b) On her second visit to the tomb Mary met Jesus just outside the tomb. When she saw Jesus she did
not recognize him. She mistook him for the gardener. She still thinks that Jesus’ body is laid to rest
somewhere and she demands to know where. But when Jesus said her name she at once recognized him
and called him “Teacher.” Jesus said to her, “Do not hold me…” (John 20:11 to 17)
(c) And entering into the sepulchre, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, clothed in a long white garment; and they were affrighted.
And he saith unto them, Be not affrighted: Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, which was crucified: he is risen; he is not here: behold the place where they laid him.
But go your way, tell his disciples and Peter that he goeth before you into Galilee: there shall ye see him, as he said unto you.
(Mark 16:5 to 7)
3 Dif accounts of the 1 story,
Why??

It is interesting how Christians of all denominations accept the resurrection of Christ (save the JW’s) without any hard physical evidence.
Do any of you have a concrete answer to the atheist conversation stopper of, “You cannot prove to me that Jesus rose from the grave!”

Thanks
Faith and only faith.

Three different authors, three different perspectives.

So?
You say so??
Basicly if i didnt know the facts to a story then i wouldnt tell it…
Thats if any of them stories ever happened.
If they cant get 1 even straight then chances are is that its fabricated.

I advise you to read this article. It’ll clear up quite a few of your misconceptions about Biblical authorship in terms of the Gospel resurrection narratives.
Didnt it say somewhere in the book of john that a holy spirit will help them remember??
So the holy spirit got it wrong??

Whiteknite, we are not Muslims. We do not believe that God dictates words and sentences in books. We believe in inspiration. When different authors are writing to different audiences stressing different points, we reconcile their writings in order to get a clearer idea of what happened. The NT is not written as a detailed historical book, but as a witness. We’d like to know every single detail, for sure, but what matters is the message, in this case, the resurrection.

As to the question of this thread, my personal opinion is that Christianity wouldn’t have survived without the resurrection of Jesus because it is His resurrection that proved beyond a doubt who He is and which confirmed the belief of his followers about who He is.

"You cannot prove to me that Jesus rose from the grave!"Thanks
Okay, let’s see…There’s the Resurrection of the Dead. Jesus is the Resurrection and the Life, as he said He predicted three times in the gospels that he would rise up three days after he was crucified. He died, just as he said he would. Now, why wouldn’t he also rise as he said he would?

Now, if the atheist dosen’t believe in the resurrection of the dead, than I’m going to have to prove to him that it is true…but I’m not an apologetic, so the best I can do is point him to St. Athenagoras’s Apology on the Resurrection of the Dead, which he can read here (it’s too long to post, sorry): newadvent.org/fathers/0206.htm

Im just saying what i read in your bible…

I keep seeing this theory on here that Jesus never actually died on the cross, but rather was only unconscious, barely alive and was put into the tomb in a nearly dead state. I want to address this…

People tend to forget just how good the Romans were at what they did. The men who did the crucifixions in the Roman empire did so for a living; they were extremely good at killing people. To fail to kill someone they were assigned to kill was a source of great shame and was completely unacceptable. To even think the Romans who killed Jesus may have made a mistake and that he lived through the ordeal is absurd.

Jesus resurrected? Some people don’t even believe that He died. Just have a look at some of the posts above.

If Jesus wasn’t resurrected, then I suppose the apostles - who died for their faith in the risen Jesus - wasted their lives. (I bet some people will not only deny the sacrifice of Jesus, but also deny the executions of the apostles too.)

So, it is either a shame, or Jesus really is risen. Go figure.

P.S. The Sign of Jonah speaks volumes.

Also, by medical terms, he was dead. Blood and water poured out of his side!

Furthermore, a lot of people think they’re smarter than people who lived in ancient times. But this kind of thinking is fallacy.

Actually, a lot of the arguments against Christ and his Church are fallacies. And for a list of fallacies, go here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fallacy
