In discussing apologetics with a Protestant, I have discovered their lack of faith the most challenging obstacle. They have no faith in anything not written somewhere and as such I am finding it difficult to answer some questions because they refuse to believe anything sourced by the Catholic Church.
How can I prove Peter was the Bishop of Rome or even that he was martyred in Rome? Are there historical documents that would have this information that my Protestant friend would believe? Is there a location of more historical documents that might show that Bishops of what is now the Catholic Church were the ones calling the synods and councils in the first few centuries?
Thank you.
