My Mother told me that we can never truly know what Jesus had in mind. This is her answer to anything she has issues with in the Catholic Church.

How would you respond to this?

God Bless,
Donna

Scripture tells us that we can trust the Church to teach exactly what Jesus “really had in mind”.

Jesus commanded the Apostles to go out and teach all that he had taught them (cf. Mt. 28:19-20). Surely he would issue such a commandment only if he trusted them to get it right! In fact, he told them, “He who hears you hears me, and he who rejects you rejects me” (Lk 10:16).

The Church carries on this teaching through apostolic succession as Jesus promised that he would always be with the Church (cf. Mt 28:20) and that the Holy Spirit would guide it into all truth (cf. Jn 16:13). Paul recognized this when he called the Church “the pillar and bulwark of the truth” (1 Tim 3:15).
