How do we know that God is truely real using evidence that is not the Bible or using the term “having faith”?

Hmmm…well you’ve pretty much negated why most every person that believes in God has that belief. Faith and the written word. For Catholics that also includes tradition. We have learned through the Bible and through tradition (i.e. stuff known before the Bible was written and handed down through the ages) of God, His Son Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit, One God for ever and ever. Everything we believe is from Scripture which feeds Faith.

Now if you want concrete proof, which means you dont’ have faith or have a weak faith, you might look at the many miracles proven by the Church for which Saints have been canonized. However, even those require faith to accept.

If you want more than that then you need to visit the scientific websites that have forums for discussing such things. Personally, I feel God, in His majesty, in His glory, in His omnipotence, in His mercy would have made it easier for us to clearly prove His existence if faith did not matter to Him. But faith is what it’s all about. Faith leads one to love God without question, with one’s entire will. If it were possible to “prove” He exists would remove the need for faith, for an act of will. Hence, what purpose would that serve?

Peace in Christ our Lord,

Read the Summa Theologica written by St. Thomas Aquinas, especially the first part as it deals with proving the existance of God using reason rather than just faith.

Your very existence…

Consider that without God sustaining your life (and everything seen and unseen) in existence - you, me and every living creature would be a pile of organs, bones and hair.

We would just collapse in a lifeless heap.

What keeps your blood circulating, your heart beating, your brain functioning and all the processes of your body “alive”…your mind concious of your own existence, awareness of the universe - the fact that you are able to formulate this deep, profound question…

What is the lifeforce, source …within you?

The God that is Love and the Love that is God.
