Hi Everyone,

Our 40 Days for Life campaign would like to involve Christians of all denominations or even prolife Jews or Muslims. Before the campaign started the organizers contacted more than 100 local churches but received responses from only 3, and only 1 small bible church is participating (God bless them). We would like to encourage more people to participate. Does anyone have any ideas? I know there are pro-life protestants, Jews etc. How do we reach them?

Emphasize to them the fact that “God created man in his own image” is the basis for the intrinsic sanctity and dignity of human life. This theme is something that all true Christians and Jews can find common ground upon. Use ideas from papal encyclicals, books by Pope John Paul 2,or Pope Benedict (such as “In the beginning”) which deal with this theme.

What aspect of a Bible-believing Christian lacking the capacity to murder precious babies needs approaching?

I would just start contacting churches, synagogues, and mosques in the area by telephone. Let them know what you are doing. Make it clear that this is a Pro-life campaign, not a Catholic campaign. If the place of worship you are talking to is opposed to abortion they might be drawn in by the ability to show that abortion is not just a “Catholic” issue. Ask if there is anyone who coordinates volunteers that you might be able to speak to and arrange a meeting in person during the first phone call (My guess is that the 100 churches were intially contacted by e-mail or a voicemail was left). If you set a date for the meeting during the first phone call there is no chance of someone “forgetting” to call you back or “not being in the office” (They’re stuck with having to meet with you. Ha Ha). Stress how people of different religions uniting against the evil of abortion, can change minds and attract attention. Don’t give up and prepare to face rejection. But let Luke 10:5-6 be a comfort to you: “Whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace be to this house.’ If a man of peace is there, your peace will rest on him; but if not, it will return to you.” Make sure those groups who do participate with you receive a thank you letter and regular communication from you. I hope this has been helpful. I will be praying for you.

God Bless.
