Hi,

Recently I have hit the headlines in the UK following public expressions of my pro life views and for opposing surrogacy.

Sadly myself as someone seeking conversion to the faith and several other Catholic friends have been hounded and persecuted for sharing what are mainstream Catholic and philosophical views on family and life. Even when we have not based our opinions on sexuality some have decided to simply distort any debate and frame it in this context. This has lead to risks to people’s jobs and all aspects of peoples lives. I genuinely believe there are more people who hold pro life and pro family views but who are too scared to voice or share their opinions due to the public hounding that is now common place. What can we do together to challenge this and help promote a society where all life is valued.

I pray for your continued strength in what looks like an uphill battle. I admire (and agree) with the courage of your convictions and I hope that those in your country who are lukewarm will see your example and speak out. :console:

As harsh as this is going to sound, look at those Christians who live in fear everyday in parts of Africa and the Middle East. They face real danger to themselves and their families for following Our Lord. Yes, we are likely to be belittled in the West because of our beliefs, mainly that have to do with hot button social issues, but, we will not be tortured or killed for those beliefs. I pray that you find an appropriate away to have your views spread!🙂

Just keep it simple and stick to the truth. A lot of people don’t want to hear that. They sure didn’t when Jesus walked this earth, and that hasn’t changed. You are definately hitting a raw nerve, keep at it. Change may, or may not, come soon enough.

There will come a day when all Christians will be in danger for what they believe. This harassment is just the beginning. Worse things are yet to come.

Sadly the position for many seems to be that you can only be religious if you change your religious beliefs to fit the social culture of the time. The tolerance of religion by name but not any level of devout practice.

Even the mere association with people who hold these views lands you in hot water with those who wish to deny religious freedom and assert a false freedom above all else.

Sadly as someone who is meant to be by my medical circumstances anti religion (ie some LGBT people believe you can’t have a strong faith) and particularly the Catholic church, by following God and expressing my desire to protect life God’s most precious gift on earth I legitimise the view even more, as previously they could simply label the group as bigots. The church supports diversity and difference by supporting equal value but different roles for all as our vocations guided by God that is the true meaning of equality we should support.

Jesus tells us we will be persecuted. Place your faith and hope in Him. Find others who share the Truth. We are also told to encourage one another. Have hope. God is for you.

God bless,
Ed
