How do we understand the passage in Ephesians about husbands and wives?

I have heard homilies and people explaining the passage in scripture about “Husband’s love your wives.” They are saying that it works like: The husband loves the wife and the wife response back to the husband. Because God made the husband first in Gen., he made the man to give his love to the woman and she returns/responses back to the man. Can you tell me where in the catechism/bible/saint’s readings I can find this in print? 🙂
