How do you answer?

obviously as Our Lord has said,"accidents happen"but also if you think you have a right to defend the actions of Our Lord in the OT,you could be messing with misunderstanding of his understanding and your little if not futile will.

Tectonic,in the earthly regions or the mental, are profound to say the least.but one thing is to be sure, there is no mistake!!

We can just include those afflicted in prayer, and hope purgatory is not to long for them/us.

!!!why would you question!.

Ask him if his parents ever punished him when he was a child. Did that mean that they were evil people or because he needed correction and sometimes that’s the only way to get through to us humans, thick-headed as we can be?

Yes, because Japan was such a pious and godly nation…

Has this person even bothered to look at Japan or do they consider that God rewards the wicked with His protection?

God gave you intellect to think, not to listen to the Fox News. Think about the delicate tectonic balance and the fact that the arctic ice melted, loosened the overall balance. The Earth is dynamic, rotates. Why the plates move against each other? Not every earthquake is coming from the results of the global warning, only the increasing number of the earthquakes.

May be it is not too late to vote responsibly, not for lip service.
Never listened to Fox News in my life.
I know quite a bit about plate tectonics and global warming actually.
Vote? you can vote against global warming now? Where do I register? 😃

The honest answer is that you do not know why God does this or that. How could you possibly know unless He tells you Himself? And Revelation has ended.

If your friend tries to say that this is incompatible with the qualities God is supposed to have, you can respond with an apologetic, but, otherwise, just honestly say you don’t know.

How do you answer an atheist asking you Why did God permit the earthquake in Japan?
I would say God allows terrible things, like earthquakes, because these tragedies bring people to their knees in prayer; they cause people to respond with charity and sacrifice; and they put things into perspective, like no material object is worth more than your soul. It also gives you an idea about the dignity and importance of every human life. A lot of good can come from tragedy. God has a way of bringing out the good and bestowing multitudes of graces upon those who trust in His divine providence during a tragedy.

Tragic events are prime opportunities to serve our Lord. Padre Pio said “Suffering is a gift from God. Blessed is he who knows how to profit by it.”

I have posted this before on other threads talking about the topic but here is my answer:

For the same reason God allowed for there to be a Japan in the first place.

Without earthquakes and volcanoes, there would be no Japan nor Hawaiian islands. The natural occurrences in nature can be tragic, but they also create wonderful opportunities for life.

One could argue that God could have created a perfect world without the need for natural disasters, death, or suffering, but God did create that perfect world. It is Heaven, and God desires for all of use to choose Him and join him there after living our lives in this world.

You can look at the numerous other threads and posts within this thread discussing why this Earthly world is necessaary for preparation for Heaven.

I can agree with the first part of your post, but question the second part. If we are all in ‘Heaven’, who will take care of the ‘new earth’ written about in Revelation?
