How do you apply Roman’s 12:1-2 teaching. In your life?

Be not conformed 2 the world BUT

Be transformed by the renewing of you mind
 
I see the siruation like this - the world constantly tries to inform us how to think, how to talk
(communicate ) how to act. But we are not to listen to the false maxims of the world. We have the Word of God which can acomplish the transformation of our minds and we have our Church which brings us the Mass and the Sacraments.
