I know there are Catholics that say the same thing. I didn’t say at all it was right for me to do it. Don’t put words in my mouth Singingbeauty. I’d be just as bad as the anti-Catholic. Everyone has a right to their opinion.
I do feel all Christians should unite. I don’t hate Protestants, I have many good friends who are. I just wish we’d stop this fighting.
Oh my gosh! I am so sorry that I made it sound like YOU were the one I was talking about. I really wasn’t. I apologize. I just wish that people would realize that the catholics don’t have corner hold on anti-religion. Instead of saying ‘how do you deal with anti-catholics?’ I would ask ‘how do you deal with anti-christians?’. Once we realize that WE ALL deal with this we can move on to a united front.

Again, I apologize!

I’m sorry if I sounded rude in my reply. I know what you’re saying though about the hold on anti-religion. I’m sorry if I hurt you!

Y’know, I’m glad you’re here Singinbeauty…

I acknowlege the Christianity of believers wherever I find them, but the fact is that having been both…I am Catholic because I am convinced that it is the fullness of truth. If not I would not be Catholic and take all the stuff we tend to catch. (Yes, I know that all believers catch some because it does come with the turf as Jesus promised us.)

I love a good honest and searching discussion of the faith with anyone who is serious about it and not derisive, so that a real understanding can come into being. Conversion is the work of the Holy Spirit and our side of that is to give good answers and pray like crazy for those we talk to.
Pax vobiscum,

How I deal with anti-Catholicism.

  1. *]Bless those who curse you.
    *]Pray for them.
    *]Unite your suffering with Christ.
    *]Be joyful.
*]You are blessed when you are persecuted for righteousness.
*]Teach the truth, many are misinformed.

  1. and
… Rejoice and be glad, Blessed are you, holy are you, rejoice and be glad, your’s is the Kingdom of God. (I sing that to myself in my head a lot when I am being bashed for my faith.)

I don’t deal with anti-Catholicism very well!!! Though I have to because they’re out there anyway, how stupid!

I will be recieved into the Church this November I’m so happy for it!

However, on the other hand, I’m ANGERED at all the insults and garbage out there made by anti-Catholic people!

I’ve even known some of them that were Protestant…(who thought that they were going to Heaven and Catholics were going to Hell). DO YOU REALLY THAT THINK’S CHRISTIAN TO SAY SOMETHING LIKE THAT??? Ah, I DON’T THINK SO!

I myself was a Protestant and when I found the TRUTH about Catholicism, I am now annoyed with the people who don’t understand and are full of their own pride with what they believe. I was in a Christian group and told them I was joining the CC and they threw a bunch of garbage at me and anti-Catholic garbage, doing everything they could to decieve and discourage me. I’ll admit they were doing a great job of it too but I had the Grace to ignore it and pursue Catholicism on my own. That’s when I found that the CC was the TRUE Church our Lord established!!! There are so many truthes I’ve found in Catholicism that non-Catholic religions don’t quite have…not that I’m being mean or anything…I just wish they would all understand.

Though I was a bit skeptical at some things I’ll admit but I wanted to understand it better and I was told the truth and now I’m not so skeptical anymore.

Now wonder why there are many Protestants and people from other religions joining the CC…they’ve found pure Truth!!!

Let me tell those of you who are pursuing Catholicism…DON’T LET ANTI-CATHOLICS DISCOURAGE YOU!!!

YOU YOURSELF must find the Truth, even if it takes it on your own. Pray about it too to know the TRUTH!

How do I deal with it? Just praying for them.

Hello, this is Catholicfriend 👍 who writes you!
I read your thread and i think you should read Karl Keating’s book: Catholicism and fundamentalism(attack from bible believers on the roman catholic church), i have started reading it, and i have found out that Lorraine Boettner’s book(roman catholicism) is a very used book to spread a false rumour and should be dealt with!(thrown into the fire!) Lorraine Boettner is a joke! :rotfl:
God will deal with those who work against Him, that is a true word.
God bless you and remember that : Deus Semper Major!

your friend Catholicfriend 👍

Just a note:

Please keep the charity level up in this potentially difficult topic. Though no one condones an anti-anyone (but the devil), those who sincerely have been taught wrong are just as loved by Our Lord as any of us Catholics. To characterize them with some form of ad hominem is beneath us, as it should be.

Luke 6:27 But I say to you that hear: Love your enemies, do good to them that hate you. 28 Bless them that curse you, and pray for them that calumniate you. 29 And to him that striketh thee on the one cheek, offer also the other. And him that taketh away from thee thy cloak, forbid not to take thy coat also. 30 Give to every one that asketh thee, and of him that taketh away thy goods, ask them not again.

31 And as you would that men should do to you, do you also to them in like manner. 32 And if you love them that love you, what thanks are to you? for sinners also love those that love them. 33 And if you do good to them who do good to you, what thanks are to you? for sinners also do this. 34 And if you lend to them of whom you hope to receive, what thanks are to you? for sinners also lend to sinners, for to receive as much. 35 But love ye your enemies: do good, and lend, hoping for nothing thereby: and your reward shall be great, and you shall be the sons of the Highest; for he is kind to the unthankful, and to the evil.

36 Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful. 37 Judge not, and you shall not be judged. Condemn not, and you shall not be condemned. Forgive, and you shall be forgiven.

I don’t think that Jesus had in mind the Roman Catholic Church but the catholic (universal) church which would include ANYONE who follows Christ and believes that He is their savior. 🙂
As a matter of clarification and history, I would suggest that you log on to www.newadvent.org and search “Roman Catholic” for how the word “Roman” became attached to the Catholic (universal) Church. I’ve read many of your posts and I appreciate your civility.

To all those who posted, Thanks!

It’s just at times, I do question the Catholic Church. But I keep going back to it! :o

But there was also something else, I heard some people talking about a book called Babylon Mystery Religion. Is that something I shouldn’t be reading? I know the anti-Catholics call the church Babylonian. Is it anti-Catholic?
Babylon was a name use for Rome in the 1st centuary. St.Peter used it in one of his letters at the end. Dan

Over the past year and still going on today, I have expirienced Anti-Catholicism in a lot of places. It’s gotten me to defend my faith, but it has also made me cry at times. It’s as bad as racism.
Come on now, none of what you site is “anticatholicism”.

Maybe if you were barred from employment at certain employers, or forced to sit in the back of the bus, or suffered real persecution because of your faith, that would be anti-catholicism.

But mere discussion , arguments and disagreements over aspects of Catholic doctrine doesn’t meet the definition of anti-anything. Afterall, if someone didn’t have some disagreement, they would probably be Catholic, no?
