Hi,
I was raised (and I’m technically still being raised) in a protestant household, but earlier this year I’ve converted to Catholicism (woo!)

I’m still going to a protestant church, but plan to attend mass as soon as I turn 18 (my parents are anti-Catholics).

I’ve got a way to go until I’m able to, but when I do go, how to I do a confession? I haven’t ever gone to confession in my life. Do you simply list your common vices the first time, and then once you start going regularly you list your recent sins?

And can you go to confession if you haven’t gone to RCIA?

Are you officially a memeber of the Catholic Church or is your “conversion” more of a mindset until you turn 18? This may help to clarify your situation.

Congrats on finding your way home!

Yeah, it’s more of a mindset. My parents would have a heart attack if I told them I wanted to become a member of a Catholic Church…

God bless! I give you a lot and credit and respect and you’ll be in my prayers. I am a convert to the Catholic faith as well; however, I came over along with my mom so I was not attacked.

To answer your question, you cannot receive the sacrament until you’ve been instructed in and a member of the Catholic Church. I am assuming you have been baptized?

The easiest way would be to contact the local parish (or find a parish you are interested in going) and contacting the pastor and inquire about RCIA classes.

Continue to (or start if you have not) read and research on the sacraments and the faith.

Maybe some palpitations, but hopfully no heart attack… We welcome you and hope you will continue on your journey finish with your instructions, God Bless you and hope to see more of your posts.🦋🦋🦋

The Catholic church does recognize the sacrament of baptism in some protestant denominations, however as rightly said by someone In the previous posts, you will have to go for a RCIA before you can officially be accepted into the catholic church and then you can make a confession. Getting the help of some good priest or religious may be of good help in this stage 😃
I do respect your courage and decision… God bless you and May Our Lady always guide you!! 😃
