How do you encourage your priest?

I do this too. I usually always can find something positive to say about the homily, but when it’s a really good homily, they do appreciate hearing that it is.

I also volunteer at our church for three groups, and I know they appreciate our efforts because they have told us so. They like when parishioners take ownership and don’t leave things for “someone else to do.”

Have him over for a steak and glass of wine or two… ribeye for the reverend

I try to say a daily rosary for our priests or I will say a pray for priests in one of
my prayerbooks.

Having a mass said for them can really help particularly if they are feeling down. I sent a Mass card to my parish priest and he loved it.

Also, buy them a beer and socialise with them. Sometimes a beer or their favourite drink may be a luxury and the chance to just talk is welcomed.

Prayer. It should be daily but it isn’t exactly so.
All the priests at our parish are married and have kids so any extra-attention would be taking them away further from their families on Sundays and other Feasts. Plus I leave the attention-giving to people who want/need constant visits from priests to have their house blessed or anointments etc. Those people give them gifts on their birthdays and comfort them so I pray for them to God too. The whole system just seems proper and fit and nice to see.

If your priest is a good preacher, tell him so, I like to tell my pastor what I think about his homilies. If I have a question about one of the readings, I ask him. I think we should be a lot more active in communication with our priests. They need to know that they’re appreciated. Yes, pray for them, but let them know that you’re glad that they’re there.
