I started to go to adoration about a year ago. Mainly I was unemployed and looking for positive inexpensive ways to spent all the time on my hands. I found the experience OK. I enjoyed the mid week opportunity to be in a church. Although a positive experience, I never had any strong emotions about it.

Well, I just finished my second week at a new job. It is stressful having not worked in so long, I am worried I will not perform up to scratch (but that is another post). Since adoration was in the middle of the day, I was disappointed that I would no longer be able to go because of work. To my joy, I found out about a church that has adoration on Sundays. I went today.

As I was driving there, I remembered an incident with my father that happened when I was in high school almost 30 years ago. Me and my dad did not get along back then and fought a lot. He died 2 years ago. When he died, I was able to see how good God was because a big chunk of the negative feelings and resentments I had towards my dad, were put to rest when he died. It is as if there is now a peaceful and joyful feeling knowing he was my dad I never had while he was alive. Also, I had no idea he was about to die. A couple of weeks before he died, I talked to him on the phone. And I was able to say a few things that I had wanted to say to him for a while but feared it would turn into a fight. Of course after I said them, we argued. But now, I am grateful I said them. So often when someone looses a loved one, they wish they could have one last chance to tell them something. I never had that feeling because in God’s perfect plan, I did have that chance and I was able to say it all.

So, today in adoration, I wrote in my diary about the event that happened in High School and cried and cried. Then I sat for a bit longer and practically fell asleep in the church. I came home exhausted.

I am just wondering, do others ever feel extremely tired after heavy intense prayer in adoration? Or am I just exhausted from starting a new job?

Crying and in your case sobbing takes a lot of energy! I am sure it is a combination of it all, but I know my experiences like that have been a sort of “blessed exhaustion” Its like you feel like you really accomplished something or really entered into communion with God. Get some rest!!

You’re awesome. Congratulations on an incredible prayer experience. And thank the Holy Spirit!

It really depends on how you approach Our Lord. The greatest graces I receive are usually not looked for or expected.I would caution adorers who are seeking immediate answers to pressing matters to not try to imprint your will on God and force Him to answer in an either/ or way.He is God.He will do what HE knows well what is best for you.Thank GOD. HE IS WHO HE IS.and again------Always Thank God.Remember Christ after healing the several diseased men inquired where were the others that were healed when only one returned to thank him.God expects to be thanked.Blessed be God.Thanks be to God.

Eucharistic Adoration helps me to listen to Jesus, and to refrain from giving Him suggestions about what His will for me should be. His will for me is a perfect expression of His love.

I normally feel calm, at peace, safe, full of confidence that Jesus looks after me and determined to do my best to do his will.
