Go to confession.
I’m not merely being flippant or brushing aside your question. The way to get to know who is a good confessor is to go to confession on a regular basis (e.g., once a month) to various priests in your area. If you find one you like, go to that priest. If you’re not able to go to him regularly for some reason or another, ask him to recommend another confessor.
Some people would suggest asking around of fellow Catholics, and you can do that, but there are drawbacks. Someone you know and trust may very much like his confessor, but that confessor’s style may not mesh with yours. One person may like and need a no-nonsense, ream-you-out, Padre-Pio-esque confessor, but that style may be anything from intimidating to terrifying for someone else. So, ultimately, the only way you can find the confessor who is right for you is to go to confession.
