How do you go about having a Mass said for someone?

I know this sounds terribly ignorant, be kind…

I would like to have a Mass or two said for my father, but don’t have a clue how to go about it. Is there a sign-up sheet at the Rectory, can you specify what day you would like, an honorarium? These sorts of things, and any other help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

You go to your parish office and request that a Mass be offered. It is customary to give an offering or donation ($5 or $10) to have the Mass offered. It is possible that you may need to make this request several months in advance depending on how many people are requesting Masses offered at your parish. You may want to call the parish office to inquire about this.

You may go to the parish office as already noted, or you can send donations to any of the missions. If you are in a large parish, you may have a long wait for the Mass to be scheduled. The missions can say them quickly.
