very true…

Its too EZ to just be happy in our parish and not worry about the big picture

Somedays I think that my Parish is great … happy there…who cares what else is happening in the church… but its not the right attitude
Why worry? Christ said the gates of hell will not prevail. I think the right attitude is…pray and don’t worry.

Thanks for the website Al! No we need not worry unduly about the FINAL OUTCOME of the Church. Jesus keeps His promises. I am in a diocese that seems to be semi coming apart at the seams. Yes, I am concerned. I am concerned also about other diocese in other states that Bishops are way liberal with their theology and litergy of the Mass. But I believe it is HEALTHY to be very concerned. It motivates one to PRAY FERVENTLY for the WHOLE Church. We are all one in the body of Christ. The welfare of the very souls of the followers in these diocese is at stake. Some are being very misled by their immediate heirarchy. It is a dangerous situation.

Man is corrupt. Jesus stood up to human corruption, spoke truth to power, and martyred Himself therein. We must be prepared to share the same fate, as His disciples. Speaking and teaching the truth could cost us our lives. Nonetheless, we keep fighting. We gladly accept the potentiality of a violent, painful death, as part of our calling. 👍

I agree with that we must be prepared to share the same fate as His disciples.

Someone said about Socrates that he had to die, because the world would never tolerate a truly good man. I agree. At some level, many, many people, despite outward appearances, hate the Good, and will snuff it out when given the chance. Thus is human corruption. I live to imitate Jesus. His trials and tribulations are my own. Whatever He experienced, I expect to experience myself. 👍

Cute saying: “Pray as if the outcome is solely up to God; Work as if the outcome is soley up to you.”

We can’t let ourselves get excessively crazy about the daily goings-on. On the other hand, we can’t just be aloof from them, either.

Sometimes it is necessary to “fight” for a while, and then just at the point of burnout, we need to let others continue the fight.

The Battle of Lepanto is illustrative. There are many accounts of that battle. Basically, the Christian naval fleets could never agree on ANYTHING and they were getting destroyed. Except this one time. Never before and never again, but this one time when everything hung in the balance, they were somehow miraculously able to stick together.

The price that they paid was horrendous in terms of lives lost and treasure expended. But at the end of the day, they had won a critical victory, thanks to a sudden wind change.

There were many previous losses and many later losses. A lot of lives lost in many losing battles.

The path is not wide.

At the end, even Saint Paul kicked himself for screwing up so many times. [Romans 7?] He hoped that merely “fighting the good fight of faith” would be enough. So ya do the best ya can and hope that God will be merciful and that the sword that gets you will have a sharp edge.
