Well, if King James’ English was good enough for Jesus, it’s good enough for me.

My wife was just telling me that she has a problem with the word Catholic not being in the bible. However, I know the concept is there. I asked why her Chrisitian faith does not use the term Eucharist…She replied its not in the bible…I in turn said oh yes it is it’s Greek. She said but it’s not in english.
Congratulations Paul…your the next contestant on the Catholic is right.

I forgot to add that she is Catholic and was joking. She was talking like she did 2 years ago. She grew up in a church of Christ Alexander Campbell restoration movement. It was a tongue in cheek thing. She visits Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament every Sunday Evening. We went tonight.
So thanks Catholic people and similar faiths, Lutherans. The reason the Catholic Church says that the Lutheran eucharist is not real is not because of the break from the Church, but rather the alteration in form of either ordination or consecration.
Eucharist means thanksgiving, but do you know why…I KNOW WHY, I’m trying to get to the point of what other faiths beleive. If you’ve ever wondered and you’re Catholic listen to Scott Hahn’s conversion story and the 4th cup. Also read “The Lambs Supper”. But he just thought he discovered all of this and then in his embarrassment realized that that is what the Catholic Church taught all along. It was mainly after Vatican Council II that everyone seemed to lose sight of the teachings of the Chruch…for reasons we won’t go into right here.
I recently read a Jewish website and some wikapedea information with links that helped me understand the Passover from a Jewish perspective. There is MUCH DEEPER MEANING than Protestants seems to realize. Even most Catholics are unaware of this. The 3rd Cup of Blessing is the cup which Jesus was celebrating at the “LORD’S or LAST SUPPER”. This cup is tied into a particular ceremonial meaning and represents the cup where they celebrate the Unblemished Lamb that was slain and they were required to eat as part of the Passover meal. This particular bread is a small peice of unlevened bread that represents the Lamb. Everyone partakes of it. There are many cermonial animated aspects intended as part of the cermony with children involved as well. It’s amazing. If you are Catholic you’d do yourself and your family and friends a great justice by reading it and memorizing the names of some of these terms in the Passover.
I believe that it all makes much greater sense than the way many Protestants explain away the real presence. In their case that will always be the case unless they somehow can take advantage of the Pastoral privelege and convert with their congregation like the Anglicans have been doing. I believe some Lutherans are doing the same.
But to keep this on topic. My wife is fine. She’s an amazing woman and gave up her family’s moral support for our conversion. I love her very much and the Lord has been doing wonderous works in our life as a result of our conversion. Her stress level is very hight because she truly sacrificed family for her conversion. She read the Catechisim of the Catholic Church and studied all her questions before even deciding to attend RCIA in 2006 late in the year. We showed extraordinary understanding and my early Catholic upbringing and display of Catholic teaching knowledge helped to get us thorugh the door. We wanted to be of the same faith for our children’s sake, so that they wouldn’t be confused. Our oldes son was also brought into the church with my wife. I baptized my own son in 2004 while working towards becoming a Protestant minister. Long story, but off this topic.
SO…
What is your view of the Eucharist? How do you view it? If you were previously Catholic then how do you reconcile this with your current faith? [to give you an example, in our previous faith, we celebrated the Lord’s Supper every Sunday…required…but it is a memorial service. I wondered the entire time. Everytime I broke bread and prayed over the “gifts” I struggled but had issues with many illicit things in the Catholic Church that caused me to doubt that anything I was taught was real…so I started over from the beginning…seeking God from where my broken heart was at during this time when my in-laws proselytized me while I was in the military isolated from any good spiritual helps and family, which wouldn’t have helped anyway…because of all that had happened in my Catholic life span. The teachings seemed viable, but no one practiced them from my perspective and the bishops and priests/deacons did nothing to defend the truth…so in my untrained mind I began to think they were lying…Your turn.]
