Bankerdavid - hi, i’m an asian singaporean. And my mum is Muslim, everyone in my family is. And its the norm to state the religion in most job application here, so i’m taking it in my stride. Discrimination is nt that prevalent, with exception frm the race that i come from, who are predominantly Muslims. I’ve had some fallout with my close fren who doesn’t want to be associated with an apostate of Islam, whom in their words, believe that i’ll head straight to hell come Judgement Day. I’m deeply saddened but i guess this is part of my challenges in my journey to embrace Catholicism.

GwenL - thank u for ur time and advice. In fact, i’ve planned it dat way. I’m gonna go thru tis journey to Catholicism and dun intend to tell my family until i’m confirmed and baptised.

I’m nt sure if i’ll reveal my allegiance at all. To me, its my personal choice and my right and freedom to choose. My family members will nvr understand, no matter wat i say to them.

Its more of a cultural thing and honour of the family name. It’s a really big deal frm where i come from, but i guess i can’t do anything bout it but to just make my choice and stick wit it.
