How do *you* know it's all real?

I know because of what you might call personal revelation. I left this world and was allowed to be in the presence of God and was later visited by 2 guardian angels who explained to me what happened and why I was returned. There is no point in going into details because I cannot prove this to anyone else, but I know what I directly experienced.
That is so cool! I believe you and others who have had either near death experiences (NDE) or out of body experiences (OBD). I had an OBE myself and saw my two guardian angels but was not allowed to speak to them or they to me. It is still as clear to me as when it happened four years ago. I often wish to go back to that place that was so beautiful and peaceful.
So I have zero doubts about the existence of the spiritual world, spiritual beings, the afterlife, and God. I also know that God is Infinite Love and Peace. I do not know why I was allowed to have these experiences while so many people do not. Perhaps I needed them in order to change my life. I certainly changed my life after that.
I’ve never had a fear of death and actually have an affinity for it. This world is so difficult and hard that I wish to be with Jesus and God and my relatives who have passed on. I’ve seen it as well (or something akin to it) and it’s beautiful and nothing to be afraid of.

The thing is that I know “it is real”." What I don’t know is why I’m alive on this earth. What am I supposed to do here? I feel like I’m biding time until I “go home to my real home.” I wished my guardian angels had spoken to me about my purpose in this life but they just looked at me with a sad expression and then I was back “here.”

What doesn’t seem real to me is this life. The afterlife is crystal clear to me.

What my angels told me during their visitation in a vivid dream after my OBE was that I had died. In fact when this OBE occurred, my last thought before I lost consciousness and collapsed was that I had died, and I felt my spirit leaving my body. The “place” I went to was so glorious, so peaceful, so loving that I never wanted to leave.

I asked my angels if I could join them. They told me yes, but not yet. I had to live out my life first.

It is a great gift to know for sure that the afterlife and God are real. I have no doubt about that at all. However that knowledge does make it harder to live in this Satanically-ruled world of deception and illusion. For a long time I just wanted to go back to God. I still do, but I accept that I must first finish out my life in this defective world. While I am here I am trying to live according to the commands of Christ. There can really be no other reason for this life than to do that and to strive to go home to God.

Everything here truly is illusion.

I fear this life more than I fear death. I too think of the New Jerusalem. I like cities, and the thought of a bustling, fun, interesting, beautiful city–with no pain, no sorrow, no tragedy–is lovely.
Also, if a fearful thought of death ever crosses my mind, I think of St. Francis’ “little sister Death.” Immediately, she (death) isn’t fearful at all, but sweet, humble, and gentle–a beloved family member.

That’s what I don’t get, and probably never will. Everyone is put on this earth to “put their time in.” Why do some people have a much longer time to put in than other people? Even if we are to live by Jesus’ example, why the different lengths of life doing so?

To be honest, I’m just tired. I’ve been ready to go home for a long time. But I know God wants me here for some reason and it has nothing to do with me. I’m here for someone else that I don’t even know and probably never will know and I probably won’t come across that person for another thirty years. In the meantime I bide time, tiredly.
Everything here truly is illusion.
Yes it is! This life is unreal to me. When I left this world that one time, the colors and sharpness in the next world were real, real real! Not muted and hazy like this world. Unfortunately given a vision of the real side does lead to dissatisfaction in this life with things and people that are so different and leading lives that have nothing to do with the afterlife. Just weird.

Thanks for sharing!

I should look into NDE’s and OBE’s. I read this brain surgeon’s book called Proof of Heaven, it was really interesting.

One thing I’m concerned about… I read Theology and Sanity recently, and one thing Frank Sheed said was spiritual beings don’t have emotions because emotions are chemical things relating to our body. Well, what about sight, touch? I’ve read (as is posted above), heaven is much more vibrant, but how do we see? Do we really get a new physical body in heaven? But I thought heaven is a place where beings of spirit dwelt.

Well… this is railroading the thread. Perhaps I should start a new one. I’m really interested in people’s personal reasons to believe/know.
