I separated from my husband of almost 21 years last year. We separated when I found out he had molested my eldest daughter. He admitted he did this and asked my forgiveness. I was so shocked and upset I couldn’t forgive him at the time. Upon us separating, I found out my family secretly hated him, as did both my daughters. They didn’t understand why I stayed with him because he also never supported the family. He was home 95% of our marriage watching TV. I tried to keep my marriage together because I did not want to be divorced.
After a year of being seperated and initiating divorce proceedings, I joined an on-line dating service. I met a great guy, very religious (Catholic) who brought me back to the Church. We get along great and really enjoy each other’s company. He has never married.
I want to annul my marriage but I keep hearing this voice saying I should have given my ex-husband another chance, tried counceling etc. I really believe he is mentally ill and the thought of living with him again turns my stomach. There was so much fighting and tension in the house. I know my children would never speak to me again if he moved back in.
Is God trying to speak with me or is it guilt? Is this normal? I pray about this but I don’t know the answer. I’m very confused and I can’t talk with anyone as my family and friends see my ex-husband as a child molester who took advanatage of me.
Your advice is appreciated.
