How do you not get depressed about pro-life issues?

I feel so…overwhelmed.
50 million dead. 50 million wounded.
3,000 abortions per day.
I don’t even want to think about the MILLIONS of huamn embryos that are being discarded as not viable for in-vitro (and now, in Michigan, they would like to conduct experiments on those embryos, since ‘they’re just going to die anyway’)

I pray in front of the abortion mill for 40 days for life.
I support pro-life candidates and pro-life causes.
But, I have a heavy heart, and the feeling that this battle can’t be won.
Then I meet other pro-life people and they are so positive and so upbeat. I want that. I want that back.
How to do it?

LOTS of prayer. Your joy should always be in the Lord, who has already conquered ALL death and ALL sin.

Remember, the days we are living in are no different than the days of the early Christians. Romans were abortion and exposing infants. Romans were contracepting, having homosexual sex, and sexual orgies. Romans persecuted the faithful and made fun of their chaste and charitable ways.

So, we do what those Christians did: continue to act in love and charity towards all that they meet. Save the babies that they can and raise them up as good Christians. Love their enemies and pray for them. Be the salt and light-- be the leaven in the world that changes things.

Yes, it took hundreds of years for them to do it, but they did.

We must look to their model of faith. Christ is our light. And, Christ has already won the victory-- we participate in that victory by our good works, but we do not cause any victory… it’s already won.

I believe that God takes care of those who are killed via induced abortion (just like he does if the abortion happens naturally).
(This is, in fact, one reason why, when I argue about abortion, I do it from a purely secular perspective.)

Look at how far we have come. Look at all those women who have changed their minds because of our efforts. There have been millions of babies murdered, but how many has the pro-life movement saved? That’s where I get my optimistic attitude. I know we can win because everyone who converts to the pro-life cause is sincere and all who support abortion are fooling themselves.

Jesus got down when facing apparent defeat too. Look up the Garden of Gethsemane in your bible.

What we need to remember is that we aren’t necessarily called to success. We are called to FAITHFULNESS.

11 of 12 of the apostles after the resurrection were eventually executed. Be glad you and I are not likely called to THAT much faithfulness… 👍
