How do you obtain wisdom?

Growing up, regretfully, I didn’t know what wisdom was until, in my confirmation class the new priest gave new catechism materials to everyone, citing that the old materials were “junk”.

So what is wisdom? From what I understand, 1) wisdom is NOT knowledge, rather it is how you apply your knowledge and especially, learn from your mistakes and be open to correction.
  1. Wisdom comes from God. It is seeing things the way Christ would see things.
Now how does one obtain wisdom? I think it is a gradual lifelong process.

Wisdom is doing what is right, not being afraid of error, it is reflecting on what one has done or failed to do.

Wisdom is NOT fasting to extreme measures, flagellating oneself, or praying 100 rosaries everyday.

Please correct me where I am wrong or add, we could all learn from each other.
 
Searching for Wisdom is searching for God. Finding Wisdom is finding God.
 
I’ve found that I gain wisdom 10 seconds after making a bad decision
 
Wisdom is the first of the Seven Gifts of the Holy Spirit. It is defined by Servant of God Fr. John Hardon as follows:
The Gift of Wisdom: The first and highest gift of the Holy Spirit. It makes the soul responsive to God in the contemplation of divine things. Where faith is a simple knowledge of the articles of Christian belief, wisdom goes on to a certain divine penetration of the truths themselves. Built into wisdom is the element of love, which inspires contemplative reflection on these divine mysteries, rejoices dwelling on them, and directs the mind to judge all things according to their principles. The Seven Gifts of the Holy Spirit are imparted at Baptism and strengthened at Confirmation.
We can also pray for God to please strengthen our gift in this area.
As we grow in grace generally, which usually happens with age if we live good lives, these gifts should also be strengthened in us.

We don’t get any of the Gifts of the Holy Spirit or develop any of the Fruits of the Holy Spirit, except perhaps self-control in this manner. And in my opinion there are better ways to develop self-control than by extreme self-mortification.

Any self-mortification done to extremes is usually not desirable, and spiritual directors would likely tell you not to do it.

Pray and ask God for wisdom. All things come through prayer really, so develop a good prayer life and stick to it through thick and thin.
 
Indeed. Me making stupid decisions, lots of them, always leads to a thump on the back of the head from God.
 
Wisdom is essentially the ability to NOT reinvent the wheel—to sidestep the traps other people have fallen into.

You grow in wisdom by being docile enough to follow the good advice of wise people
 
Wisdom is: Getting old and gray and making lots of mistakes along the way, keeping a ‘dumb-dumb page’ in a quiet corner of your mind and spiritual evolvement with love and grace.
 
Pray to God to give you wisdom (just as Solomon did). God will answer your prayer, not suddenly but with time, consistent prayer and with an effort to do God’s will, you will realize that you are growing steadily in Wisdom. However, wisdom, humility and the Fear of the Lord are inseparable. A person who thinks he is smarter than any other and thinks he knows best is not a wise person.

Proverbs 9 “The beginning of wisdom is fear of the LORD, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.”

James 1 “But if any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God who gives to all generously and ungrudgingly, and he will be given it.”
