How do you pray a 54-day novena?

I am planning on starting the 54-day novena of the rosary and I had a question I was hoping someone could help me with. When it says to say three separate nine day novenas for petition and then three more nine day novenas for thanksgiving, which novenas do you say. Do you just pick any novena (for example a novena to St. Jude) or are there particular ones out there to use? Should they be novenas pertaining to the Virgin Mary?

During a 54-day novena, you pray a five-decade rosary for 54 days in a row, the first 27 in petition and the second 27 in thanksgiving.
