How do you pray every day?

The determination to pray, meditate, contemplate must be there everyday in order to enjoy a life of prayer - a life of the spirit.

Within this determined decision, there is flexibility. Yesterday I re-discovered the St. Joseph prayer on a prayer card that I’ve had for years. The prayer is aprox. 1900 years old. Found on or about 50 Anno Domine. I now carry it with me and say it in the mornings.
By flexibility I mean staying alert to the little whispers of a God in love with us.

I still say my rosary, daily and today is Tuesday so, we will say the rosary at home as a family also.

My prayer life changes all of the time. I used to do more set prayers at certain times of the day/week. In the past year or so, I’ve changed to more spontaneous prayer all day long.

I talk to God in my head through the day when I get up, while at work, while driving (a lot) and while exercising. I pray more traditional prayers in the evening.

I pray for people I see on the news or in public who appear to be in need. I pray for victims and the emergency workers whenever I see the police/fire/EMS responding or when I pass an accident scene.

I pray for people who annoy me in traffic or in public places and I pray for myself at that time also to have more patience and charity.

I pray twice when I sing!

I really like your method better than mine, because it’s more attentive to the moment. I also pray while driving or exercising, but I can’t pray while working because the work takes my full concentration. I wish I could do both.

As for singing…with my voice, God is better praised by my silence!

I say a prayer for the beatification of the Venerable Solanus Casey,( for someone who is ill) to St. Gianna Beretta Molla, one to St.Theresa of Lisieux, and two to Our Lady of Lourdes.
After breakfast the wife and I usually go to Mass.
In the evening we say the Rosary. I also say the Catena as I am an Auxilliary of the Legion of Mary.

And so to bed:)

A beautiful prayer. That is what I was looking for. Thank you for posting it.
 
In the morning, I make a morning offering.
On days off, I ususlly take a cup of coffee and read something like “A retreat with Saint X,” and do a little journalling.
If I have time throughout the day, I will read the Little Office of the Blessed Virgin Mary. If not, I may try to “catch up” in the evening, or just do the evening part.
A simple rosary at bedtime, and I’ve compiled a little booklet of prayers and scriptures that have touched me through the years that I tend to read through.

I have done the same and included too a Psalm for Every Occasion. I use this book at Private Prayer if my mind is all over the place and full of distractions…Blessings - Barb:)
 
I join my friends at 7:00 for the Rosary before daily Mass (at 7:30 a.m.)

During the day, I don’t explicitly pray (that is on a schedule) but I do pray as it comes to mind.

I also find myself singing songs and hymns (and even whistling them). I remember reading someplace that “he who sings, prays twice”.
 
I say a small prayer as soon as I wake up.
Lord Jesus,
Help me to remember that nothing will happen today,
That together, You and I can not handle.
Amen.

As Im getting a shower I often pray, mostly just a few short lines of praise. I also say small prayers throughout the day. Then at night, I pray the Rosary, and my book of Lenten Reflections (Dont think thats the actual name). Then some personal prayer. I usually fall asleep right after that. Or sometimes, If im really tired I will actually fall asleep while praying and listening to God. Now I know that may sound strange or disrespectful, but as i fall asleep, I feel peace and love. Like God is telling me go to sleep my son. God Bless.
