So, I guess that the Psalms are supposed to be prayers/songs or whatever. How do I pray them in the faithful Catholic way or whatever? Do I just do the sign of the cross and then read them in my head? Anyone know how?

When I’m alone and won’t make a fool of myself, I chant them 😃

lol I’m not sure that metal is exactly what King David had in mind. I think you should just read them. Chant them in a solemn way if you want. But make sure you pay attention to the sacred words because they are the most important part.

Well I pray them in the context of the Divine Office so I chant them in Gregorian chant, in Latin, on the 8 regular tones and 4 archaic tones as called for by the antiphon. When I have the time, after chanting through in Latin, I read the French translation in my antiphonary.

I know this will date me but years ago we had two eight tracks of a grouup that put the scriptures to song. I still have many in my memory like :
PS 55
Cast thy burdens upon the Lord and He will sustain you
He shall never suffer the righteousness to be moved
As for me I will call upon God
And the Lord shall save me…
Evening and morning and at noon I will pray
and He shall Hear my voice

One about David and create in me a new heart…

Do a search about scripture in/song and see if any group pops…

The songs just helped me so much to learn and retain scripture…
