I agree 100% 👍
I don’t 🙂

You don’t need to meditate to have a close relationship with your mom. I love my own mom from the bottom of my heart, but I don’t know that I’ve meditated much on her life. I just try my best to love her.

Same thing with Mary. So, if someone can’t meditate on the mysteries, I say pray the Rosary anyway and at least announce the Mystery so as to remember it, and to remember Jesus. If God grants the grace of meditation eventually, great, but no harm will be done just saying the prayers simply and from the heart until then.

Too many people are turning away from the Rosary because this simple act of loving devotion has been turned slowly into an exercise resembling a scripture-study class.

You can also pray the St Ignatius way and place yourself in the mystery be a character within that mystery. I prefer this method especially in the sorrowful mysteries and many of the scriptual references come to mind automatically. I heard a priest on EWTN recommend this I don’t remember the name of the show but he always was sitting on the porch of a log cabin in the woods and he taught about St Ignatius.

carlion-I agree with you 100% also…

I’ve seen so many different ways of Praying the Rosary, while at a retreat at the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary. Sister explained to all of us that you don’t need to Pray/mediatate on the Rosary all in one “shot” you can say one decade in the morning, one decade afternoon, evening, and so forth.

I always think of someone (and believe me there is always someone) that needs Prayers while saying each decade and even on each bead.

Our Lady of the Rosary Pray for us.

God bless,
goforgoal

I pray the Rosary in the car on the way to work. Not ideal, but the time is handy.🙂

It is always ideal to Pray the Rosary even while driving to work. I know a religious Brother who always Prays the Rosary to and from his “workplace.”😃

That’s how I do it, that is, I break it up over the course of the day. Also, I heard once that Mother Teresa recommended to her order to pray the Rosary even while working if they had to, so I don’t feel too bad then about sometimes praying it when I drive 🙂

It took me a long time to say the Rosary and meditate. Firstly I had to realise that I was galloping through the Rosary! The I began to contemplate and found it very difficult to keep my mind in focus. I heard Mother Anglica say to keep the Hail Marys and Holy Marys in the background (For me like background holy music) and comtemplate on the mystery in hand. Then it became very easy and did not worry about trying to do two things at once.
When I do the 5 First Saturdays (part of this is to spend 15 mins in contemplation with Our Lady in retrubition for the offences commited against Her Son and Her ) I light a candle in my " quiet" room and pick a mystery and just begin talking out loud to Our Lady telling Her what I imagine was going on in that mystery and wondering with her what Her thoughs and feelings were at that time. I laugh with Her and tell Her that it is just “my guess” but I know she understands! She is My Mother!
Hope this helps! 🙂
OH Mary conceived without sin pray for us who have recourse to Thee.

As a revert '02, I wondered about that too. I go back & forth, meditating on the mystery then sometimes paying more attention to the words of the prayers. I questioned a priest about this and that’s the way he does it too! I do have mind-wandering distractions also. But a cloistered nun said so do they! It’s part of human nature! When I have distractions, as soon as I realize this is going on, I simply bring myself back to the prayer. Sometimes one word is so powerful for me that I start meditating on it when voiced, and that word is: …pray for us sinners NOW… For some reason, that word “NOW” has such a calming effect on my soul.

I find that if I meditate on verses from scripture briefly before I begin to pray each Hail Mary that I can better visualize in my mind the verse at hand. It may take more time but at least I feel that I am focusing more clearly when praying the rosay.
