My mother will tell me she prayed for me . and when I ask her well what did god tell her? She then gets a funny look on her face kinda confused.

So the question is when you pray for people do you get answers from god?

She people tell me they do and it is more than yes-no- not now–

So how does god give you answers to prayer?

That’s why we believe in Faith, Hope, and Love. We pray out of love, because we have faith in the Lord and hope he hears or pleas.

Remember, God doesn’t always give you what you want, but does provide what you need.

If you are expecting that she literally hears God’s voice in her ear, no wonder she looks at you funny.
She prays for your well being, and for God’s will to be done in your life. You would be the one to feel a change of heart, or a manifestation of well bring as a result.
Her prayers are an expression of love. She entrusts you to God’s care.
Return the prayers on her behalf and experience it (selflessness) for yourself.
It’s a good feeling of peace.

My personal experience is that God doesn’t answer your prayers the way you expect ,
Or the timeframe you might have in mind ,
I can honestly say most of my prayers have been answered, except trivial ones like winning the Lottery,
at times years had passed , then I get this surprise, Wow , I prayed for this day to come,
The thing to remember is this,
what you want and what you really need are two different things,👍

I was in a difficult situation about 16 years ago. I prayed to God and the Blessed Virgina and asked for a sign of their benevolence. The first Saturday a beautiful woman entered the lobby and presented me with a large bouquet of red roses. The next Saturday another beautiful lady entered the lobby and presented me with a large bouquet of white roses.

I had a job that required me to run errands in a van. It paid very little and at teh time food was very expensive. I had had very little to eat. I prayed, “Give me this day my daily bread.” When I returned from an errand, there was a couple with two large bags of food. They said, We got this but we can’t eat it. We would like to give it to you." It was the answer to a prayer.

You (the OP) seem to have an interesting view of prayer.

Heather King, who was featured in Our Sunday Visitor, noted that prayer in its rawest form is a gut-wrenching cry from the darkness, from broken hearts and shattered lives.

She states: “I think we can have a very misguided idea of prayer. They say, ‘My husband was sick. He didn’t get well, so where was God?’ That’s not how prayer works. Our prayers are not to sway God but to open ourselves so we can accept reality. As long as we are praying for specific outcomes, we want God to be Santa Claus or the fairy godmother… Does prayer change things? I think that prayer changes us. I never had one single thing ever change around me because I wanted it to.”

Her most recent book is Holy Desperation - praying as if your life depends on it.

I don’t cite this to say you are wrong, but rather to say that there is much more to prayer than asking, and expecting an answer. It is not that asking something is wrong’ but rather that prayer is much more than that, and can be much much deeper than that.

I have not received the answers I wanted to all my prayers. But, I have received wisdom and guidance that could only have come from above. I have had so many blessings in my life, but things take time. My life has taken improbable turns in my favor which I can only describe as answers to prayers. I got things when I really needed them. My days are filled with saying “Thank You Jesus.”

Thank you for asking:)

ALL prayers that are in ANY WAY for our good as GOD understands it to be are answered; BUT God has three options:

Yes

NO

NOT NOW

God will not answer prayers that are NOT for our Good… God is all GOOD things perfected, so GOD knows what is good for us and what is not.👍

God Bless you

Sometimes we are able to discern our answered petitions; at other times we may be so involved in the world, that we miss seeing or hearing the answer.😊
