How do you respond to claims that the next Pope is the Antichrist?

But remember nobody knows the end of time but God himself, don’t listen to all the rhetoric all there. Media is doing their job in scaring people
 
My initial reaction?

In a more serious light; I have not been asked to respond to such claims, hopefully I will never since I would not like to open any “can of worms,” but if I am put to the task, I would simply respond with this:

People that write or speak of such things have way to much time on their hands. Its also that they may be very anti-catholic and want to start a fight. Well guess what? Im ready for it 👍

Good answer. “Antichrist” is not some individual, but simply the the denial, or any person that denies, that Jesus is the Christ and has come in the flesh, and this has been around since apostolic times.

1 John 2:18, Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.

1 John 2:22, Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.

1 John 4:2-3, Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: and every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

2 John 1:7, For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.
 
I think it would be awesome for the next Pope to be called Peter II. Just to watch the Jack Chick crowd lose their fool minds!😃

Yes satan is trying to do his best to attack the Catholic Church…Why because the Devil knows that the Catholic Church is the Church, Christ founded over 2000 years ago… Why would he bother with the protestant churches? But not to fear, as Jesus Christ said: “the gates of hell shall not prevail against it” Amen.

I’m still wondering how can a Pope merge Catholicism with Islam, without losing his followers.

Fill in the blank with the name of whomever you wish. I would use the name of an ex-girlfriend from high school. Man, was she awful! (I know she’s a woman, but I give stupid answers to stupid questions).

LOL Who knows? The guy who was making this claim basically seem to focus on how Catholics and Muslims both revere Jesus and the Virgin Mary.

Those so-called “prophecies” are known to be much later forgeries.

I would just shake my head in wonder at how people can be taken in by this claim. Then, I would do my best to argue to the contrary.
 
Jack Van Impe has had to keep changing his “prophecies” over the years. I literally laugh at him whenever I see him on my tv set. He predicted every bit of food would be used up by 1984…:rolleyes:
 
The simple answer “they said that about the last pope” works for me 👍
 
you guys have got it all wrong.

Should the horror happen and there be an evil pope he would not be Anti-christ. he would be the “False Prophet” who will lead the world wide relgion who sees Anti-christ as the Messiah.

Scripture says such an unholy alliance will happen. Will it involve a corrupt vatican? possible. , yes.

But those who want to remain true to Christ, will do so. We are the Bride of Christ, we are the Church.

Christianity, catholics in paticular, need to know that , sad to say, the vatican could crumble down, the whole hierachy be given over to evil( Lord no!!!), will survive as Jesus said the gates of hell will not prevail against us.

So, I’d say this. I’d look 'em straight in the eye and say I am not afraid because my God is on my side. We win. Jesus told John that. Jesus don’t lie.
 
They get this idea from the false notion that the Catholic Church is the whore of Babylon and the prophecy of Malachi which says that the Last Pope, Peter the Roman, will be feeding the flock through many tribulations. If he is feeding the Flock then he will be in love with Jesus. Remember what Jesus said to the first Pope, Peter.

The next pope will be chosen more for his conservatism and ability to maintain a staus quo, rather than an ability to move the church forward in any meaningful way. The old prejudices, woman, sexuality etc,. will remain.

The only meaningful way to the move the Church forward is stay true to her mission of being the light of the world in matters of Faith and morals.
