How do you respond to claims that the next Pope is the Antichrist?

This is not an anti-catholic statement. I am not saying anything against the faith. I am just saying that the whole vatican government could be used by someone who has worked their way up with false evil intentions and all the good men of faith have been fooled and used. It can happen. The vatican governing world wide system in place is the perfect tool.

Just as there is to be the secular anti-christ, there is to e a world wide “spiritual” leader, only it isn’t of the heavenly realm. Catholics must remain strong . Their whole world may be thrown into chaos. But if they can see their way through and recognize evil for what and who they are, God will be with them.

I know you wanted a better answer. Yes, the pope will not be Anti-christ. It doesn’t match the prophecies. But He can be the false prophet. But again I stress the point, this pope would be an evil man.
Your best way of answering, IMHO, is that to say the prophectic must be fulfilled exactly . God knows who is on His side and in the end, we win.

The pope cannot be the Antichrist, Antimessiah. The Antichrist has to be a Jew, who will at one stage of his career be embraced by the Jews as their king messiah. Messiah in the Jewish paradigm means anointed. And it applies to kings and priests.

In the case of “the” Messiah, to the Jews, it is the promised great king of Israel descended from king David. The messiah is supposed to lead them into the Messianic age of peace and safety. Messiah does not mean Savior from our sins in their paradigm.

In order to be perceived as the messiah, not only does the person have to be a Jew, but his religion must be Judaism as well, at least superficially.

In his career stage as the false messiah, the Antichrist in the text of the bible is the Prince who shall come in Daniel 9:26-27 who will confirm the covenant (the Mt. Sinai covenant) for 7 years. The 7 years is in reference to the cycle that Moses set forth as a law in Deuteronomy 31:11-12 as a commemorative reading, for future generations to remember what happen to that first generation who died out in the desert for not going in and possessing the promised land as God told them to (because they were afraid of the giants inhabiting the land at the time).

The commemorative reading of Moses’ law ever 7 years has not be done for 2000 years and the cycle has been broken. The Antichrist will reset that cycle. It must be done from the place of God’s choosing (in the text), which the Jews take to be the temple mount.

With the muslims in control of the temple mount, the 7 year confirmation will never be allowed because it would affirm that the land belongs to the Jews. Thus, the arrival of the Antichrist in Israel, will not take place until after Gog/Magog. The 7 years following Gog/Magog in Ezekiel 39 is confirmed to be the time of the Antichrist because there are two feasts separated by 7 years. The feast in Ezekiel 39:4 is on Gog’s army, and 7 years later, the feast in Ezekiel 39:17-20 is the Armageddon feast, also found in Revelation
19:17-18.

Thus, the pope cannot be the Antichrist because (1) he is not a Jew (2) his religion is not Judaism.

The Book of Revelations is a rather controversial book and open to interpretation. But certain figures are people who really existed in history, and John used code names to identify them. One such person is the Emperor Nero. He persecuted the Christians and would be seen by the people of that time as an “anti Christ”, an unholy terror who killed innocents. The number 666 can be seen as 616, which is Nero’s name in Latin. It doesn’t make much sense to us, but it would make perfect sense to a Christian living under Nero’s rule. Therefore John was writing to the people of *his *day, to warn them about Nero.

Hi mcrts, it is not “Revelations” as in several revelations of events. It is the Revelation, the grand revealing of Jesus in Power and Glory, which God bestows upon him at his return to earth to rule and reign.

Nero was certainly a persecutor of Christians, but he is not “the” Antichrist. Nero was the sixth king of the series of seven kings in Revelation 17. The other five had previously ruled and were gone at the time. The seventh is the end times Antichrist, in the little horn stage of his career.

At the final stage of his career, after he has been killed and come back to life, the end times Antichrist will be possessed by the beast spirit of an ancient person which will be allowed to ascend out of the grave (Nimrod imo) which will drive the Antichrist’s thinking and actions to lead the world in global rebellion against God during that last 42 months in Revelation 13.

Hi Polita, I don’t think so regarding a clone of Adolf Hitler. I understand that would be a enticing thought if a person were looking at the beast in his role in Revelation, only.

However, the Antichrist in the bible goes through 4 stages over the course of his career. The four stages are identified by the terms used, sequentially in the bible starting with Daniel 7, then Daniel 9, then 2thess2, then Revelation 13.

Daniel 7 - as the little horn who will first emerge among a ten king kingdom.
Daniel 9 - as the Prince who shall come, who the Jews will mistake to be their King Messiah.
2Thessalonians2 - as the revealed man of sin, the Jews will drop him like a hot potato as their King Messiah
Revelation 13 - the Antichrist-beast, who will persecute those who don’t worship him.

To be the Jews’ perceived King Messiah, the Antichrist will have to be a Jew and descended from king David’s lineage. So that let’s out Hitler part 2.

As far as beasts being human clones - that is not a biblical universal concept - although I understand your thought process. Nebuchadnezzar for example in Daniel 4, got the big head, and God temporarily gave him over to insanity during which time for 7 years he grazed in the fields it says like a beast. At the end of the 7 years Nebuchadnezzar repented and worshiped God. His sanity was restored.

The Antichrist in the final stage of his career, after he will have been killed and come back to life, will be possessed by the beast (as a disembodied spirit of some ancient person. Nimrod, imo) which will impact his thinking and actions to lead the world in rebellion against God for those last 42 months before Jesus returns.

For Nimrod to have been sent to the bottomless pit, most likely he would have to have been part nephilim, which would tie in with your theory about the beast in Revelation 13 not being fully human. The nephilim were the original clones.

I don’t think that the Antichrist will be a Jew. It will come from the Muslim countries. Islam is a religion that’s satanic in nature and forces people to submit to their ways or die. If that happens, I’d rather die for Jesus that submit to the Antichrist. Please don’t take it personally; this is just a matter of opinion.
 
I am of the opinion that the antiChrist is the man who will destroy the world. Every last person on earth will die, because Christ died. Unless there is a change in perception regarding the pope so that the pope gains real power over the world, doubt he will be the antiChrist.

I’d probably laugh. How can anyone know who the next pope will be or what his nature will be?

I’d probably ask for the winners of the next five Super Bowls as well since they’re so good at predicting the future.

I thought THIS pope was supposed to be the last… The absurdity of this pope/antichrist/end of the world thing is stunning. And embarassing for anyone who truly believes this.

I dont see it with a modern Pope. sure the old popes of history were far from “Holy” with most being more akin to kings than priests, but the ones of the last century have done away with that. as an outsider, I was actually rather fond of John Paul II, and ive got high hopes the new one will be a symbol for tolerance and charity.

Popes are taking on a more Dalai Lama like role it seams and I think thats a good thing.

Yes, when John Paul died Benedict was the anti-christ. Its alwase the next guy. Thats how the fire and brimstone preachers keep thier flocks, “Repent now while you can, the world is ending soon!”.

Well, to the degree that the Dalai Lama has conformed himself to Christ’s image is the degree that these popes of late have been taking on a more Dalai Lama role. 🙂

It’s just a mathematical law/property. If A = B, and C = B, then A = C

A = Popes
B = Christ
C = Dalai

where “equal” means “in the image of”.
