How do you respond to the spirituality of Pope Benedict?

I’m just getting started in learning about him, but so far I’m extremely excited to have a master theologian at the helm.

Sometimes you just gotta draw the lines of divisions and say “No! I already thought about that, and it’s wrong!” There are some storm clouds in the distance suggesting that maybe this is indeed such a time.
Great response. That’s exactly how I feel about him. I think the Holy Spirit selected him because he’s exactly what we need at this point.👍

Not so long ago Pope Benedict admonished all of Europe to never discard their Christian roots. It was a clarion call to recognize the drifting away from Christ; very foreboding.

Hi, at first I wasn’t quite sure about Pope Benedict. Then I had a dream I was confessing my sins to him.
Interesting story. Just curious: Why were you unsure about him? Was it just a feeling or some info you got on him?

I’ve read things he’s written and it’s like… I’ve found a kindred spirit… He basically believes that inner conversion is more important than social activisim, which can often distract people from the core message of the Gospel. Some people get caught up in their activist work and in wanting to “help” people, forget to help them spiritually… SO true!
Thanks…

First was his statement on Islam, which tore down all the bridges John Paul II had made with Muslims. It also resulted in the deaths of two nuns, living in Bethlehem.
Please explain!! Thanks.
Second, was the 10 Commandments of Driving, which really wasn’t from him, but a Vatican bueraucracy. It was an embarrassment.
Again, please elaborate. I have never heard of any of this…

This is one of the many things I like about him:)

With absolute love! He helped me jump face first into the Tiber after being in the desert of atheism for 25 years. The water never felt so good!

Wrt/the 10 commandments of driving - I was happy to see them. Road rage is growing across the world, and people seem to leave their civilized selves and turn into maniacs while driving.

The Church must speak to the issues in our life. Driving in both Rome and certain parts of the US is sheer Hell.
