That christianity borrowed from other pagan religions? That the “savior light of the word” and “godman” is not unique to christianity. Other gods have very similar stories to that of Jesus like Horus from Egypt or the hindu god Krishna. I think that God revealed a little of himself to those pagan nations as well since God wants the whole world to know him.

OK, no problem with that.
BUT, God Fully, only in Christ was with us.
Sorry about krishna and horus but they are nothing (zero) compared to Christ.

The difference being that in every religion except for Christianity the mean of salvation is based upon pleasing the diety. Christian salvation is based upon receiving what God has done and believing the promises in the sacraments and in the Church.

God Bless

As far as the claim of “myths and paganism” do not forget that Paul in Acts 17 speaks of the altar to “THE UNKNOWN GOD” which speaks volumes of the reality that God is present even in the midst of paganism; albeit in a provisional way, we can perceive God’s permissive will, as a means of preparation for these ancient pagan and heathens to be ready to accept the Christian mystery. Because it looked familiar…

A Protestant site that has done all the work already: tektonics.org/copycathub.html

thanks interesting site alot to read. Seems like alot of it is bogus people make claims about Horus and other pagan cultures which are not supported to disprove christianity.

Did Horus have a Sermon on the Mount?

Acts 4:10 and 12
Jesus Christ of Nazareth…
… for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

All the other so called gods died and remain dead. Christ lives!

Having received his spirit, if it was not possible that he was holden of death, we won’t be held of it either.

Man always had the desire to find God.

Anyone can think up a God-man story. Jesus came not as a man but as a baby. The more you think about the ‘similarities’ with paganism, the less similar they are. Chesterton was right. Christianity is the religion no one would have guessed.

I respond that the reverse is true. Pagan religions borrow heavily from the true knowledge of God revealed by God himself through first the Jewish people, and since the coming of Jesus Christ, in his Person. These religions, because the desire for God and knowledge of him is embedded in every human heart in its creation by Him, each reflect little pieces of the truth and of the true God, because the human heart already has a kernel of that truth.

Sigmund Freud believed Christianity, Islam, and Judaism developed from Atenism; the world’s first monotheistic religion…

Freud believed Akhenaten was an Egyptian nobleman who later took the name Moses and founded Judaism… But this is all hogwash…

I came across your question again. And I am going to answer for the 2nd time.
Christmas was a feast to the Sum but transformed into our Light, Jesus Christ.
Of course, the creation of the Earth, the Deluge and amny episodes of the Bilce are common to many religions but when they are ours, they are transformed.
Of course, all nations are saved through Christ, they belong to Christ.
Christ saved everybody, not only the RCC. So, in various degrees, they are the Church of Christ. They do not know Christ but we do not know him very well either.
Theorugh their god, they will go to Christ.
Jesus said: you gave me food, you gave me dringk, you gave me shelter. and eveybody will shout, when was it that we did not recognize You, and He will say, when you gave to my little ones, you gave to me.So, non-Christians meet Christ everyday.

one thought I had was that paul in the NT letters debating the case and life of christ and the gospel writers as well used the OT to back there thealogy. They never used pagan sources and why would Jews use other religions anyway which they see it as unclean and pagans being gentiles. So the virgin birth, ressurection etc all comes from the OT.
